Can someone let me know exactly what determines the colour to be used. I have one Style under development that will not colour the panels.
In the top screenshot the Compressor panel and border are tinted orange; in the lower screenshot they are not. ( In both, the knobs are tinted, but that is a separate setting.)

I don't think I understand.
But just incase this is the info you need I will say it anyway.
MPs settings have a colour for the knob and a seperate colour for the group. This second colour is for the panels colour.

Yep, I get that. But in my example all I did was pick my new style but it is not picking up the Group colour for the first Mulitiparameter. I must have done something to the panel in the Style Editor to prevent it.

Ah ha - I bumped the "Change Colour to main 0" up to 255 and that got it working. Now I need to do some more experiments.
