FR: constrain key in midi editor

By holding for example shift, the selected notes can be dragged only in time or note value but not both at the same time.
Useful to prevent accidental transposition when moving notes or accidental moving in time while transposing.
This is a common function in graphics programs.

That's a great idea, especially for someone like me who is still wrapping their head around chords and keeping things in key. But I suspect even for those who do know, it'd remove a little thing to pay attention to so attention can be used elsewhere.

This was just annoying me today. I instinctively held shift to copy a batch of notes from one measure to another, and held shift to keep them at the same pitches. Then I remembered "oh yeah. I can't."
This is an excellent idea.

I guess you meant "held ctrl to copy a batch of notes".Watchful wrote: Sun Jan 27, 2019 7:49 pm This was just annoying me today. I instinctively held shift to copy a batch of notes from one measure to another, and held shift to keep them at the same pitches. Then I remembered "oh yeah. I can't."

I meant I used shift to try to constrain some copied notes...I used ctrl+c to copy and ctrl+v to paste them...but then dragged the pastes to a new location and instinctively used shift to hold them at their original pitches. And like you said that would have been nice.

OK, I see. But you can copy by just dragging while holding the ctrl key. No need to use ctrl+c and ctrl+v unless you want to copy into another clip.Watchful wrote: Sun Jan 27, 2019 9:45 pm I meant I used shift to try to constrain some copied notes...I used ctrl+c to copy and ctrl+v to paste them...but then dragged the pastes to a new location and instinctively used shift to hold them at their original pitches.
