Hey people,

I really think that MPS will be able to do it, but I might not know where to tweak at the moment. I simply want to understand it a bit more and now I wanted to ask the talented community!

Maybe some of you might have harmor? Load up the standard preset, tweak the "Pluck" knob to 50% (just middle click it). I can get close to the sound of Harmor, but somehow the is still more punch in it. I uploaded some audio examples. Do you hear the difference?

It gets even more complicated, if I change the pluck amount curve in harmoe to velocity and change the envelopr to -50% on the left to +50% on the right. This means basically: higher velocity = less pluck. I tried this in the filter in MPS in the "By Velocity" tab, but I could not find a good result, which would fit to the sound of harmor.

PS: Maybe since Harmor uses a totally different approach of synthesis it is NOT possible to recreate such sound in MPS?

Harmor is an additive synthesizer with subtractive synth features.
The pluck is a decay related filter, so it's almost like a transient shaper that works on the harmonics of a sound.

I messed a bit with your filter envelope and came up with something that's close. (Keep in mind that I am NOT highly skilled at sound matching and I question my equipment daily!)

The attack is not that clean and sharp compared to Harmor. Also, Harmor seems to better even out the loudness loss due to filtering. I think this is missing in MPowerSynth.

Hey you two thanks for your effort. Especially Zentralmassives preset makes me understand, what is going on here! Seems like the key is mainly the "Filter frequency" and "Frequency range". I really have to understand this more, I guess. Generally I understand it, no question, but I need to understand it even more. :D

Yeah the filter and range settings have to be set carefully. Small changes already make noticeable differences to the sound. That is some general rule with Melda plugins, many parameters have huuuuge ranges compared to other manufacturers plugins, this is good because you can go extreme, but this also means that you carefully have to search for the sweet spot, which is more difficult than with other plugins.

Can you show a snapshot of the harmor preset? I wonder why it still sounds so different, no matter which filter or resonance I choose, none seems to really match. It's also very noticeable that the harmor sound stays very stable in level, while my MPS preset does not.

That pluck parameter in Harmor sounds really great. I've always thought it's a great pluck. Now you guys have me interested! If I find time later, I will try to copy it also, see how close I can get.

I took a quick look and found that Zentralmassiv's preset sounded pretty close.
I would change the filter from LP36 to SubX36, then add a little gain range.

As far as I remember Harmor`s Filters aren´t accutally Filters... it is an FFT based Volume processor (additive synth engine), which emulates the bahviour of a filter (decrease the volume with y slope and at x frequency).And the Pluck in Harmor is simply a "Filter" modulated with a fast decay... to get similar Filter sounds out of Harmor, like with a "regular" Synth, you would have to alter the Pitch with a fast Pitch Env (additionally to the Filter Env). Because when a filter is modulated that fast, it alters the pitch... the other way arround, to create this behaviour in MSF we would need a similar Additive Engine, because that isn´t that easy if you want to emulate it 100%.

I really just loaded up the default preset and pressed middle click on the pluck knob (its default position.... even though the default preset does not have this lol).

Thanks for the tip with the Sub-X filter and the gain range. Somehow it gets closer to the Harmor thing, on the other hand it getss cooler, hehe.

Hehe, yeah. It sounds good.
Another nice filter pluck tip is to turn the resonance down quite low, about 20% and then add resonance range to taste. I prefer the sound of more resonance at higher frequencies and less for lower frequencies. This is actually similar to how a lot of analogue filters sound.
