Totally valid, point. But I disagree, how does an artists get creative? He needs proper tools. Generally speaking this applicable to me, I do have Ableton Samplers, but I'm looking for better tools. Thats why i'd ask here, isn't this what this forum is about?

In my experience, Melodyne can be an incredibly creative tool.alex921 wrote: Wed Jan 30, 2019 9:28 pmTotally valid, point. But I disagree, how does an artists get creative? He needs proper tools. Here’s an example:
Record one or two seconds of randomly banging on guitar strings. Have Melodyne split it up into individual polyphonic notes. Quantize it it a scale. Shorten some notes. Stretch some notes way out for several bars. Copy and paste the whole thing a few times and mangle it some more. Now go into the spectrum tools and further mangle it. Lots of fun, creative possibilities from very minimal sources.
Incomplete list of my gear: 1/8" audio input jack.

That is the most common use, but it is capable of far more creative applications. And it has the whole spectral manipulation section where it can, for example, learn the spectral distribution of a piano and then apply it to a guitar.alex921 wrote: Wed Jan 30, 2019 10:53 pm Isnt melodyne used to correct pitch/vocals. Seems a bit cumbersome to work with solely for sample manipulation, especially with a price tag like theirs.

I'm not a musician, but I've designed sounds that others use to make music. http://soundcloud.com/obsidiananvil

Tried Composer Desktop Standalone, was a pain to setup. Don't own Renoise, would a Renoise trial suffice?dformd wrote: Thu Jan 31, 2019 4:03 am The CDP Interface tool for Renoise offers integration and an interface for The Composers Desktop Project:

Well, it depends on if you're looking for a plugin to replace Simpler/Sampler or rival it. Some of your comments have gone both ways, so i'm not entirely sure. But if i was to use any other DAW besides Live (and i was looking into this recently and went bonkers trying to do what i did in Live with plugins), i'd use Redux to replace the Simpler/Sampler combo. Pretty easy to get the basics, pretty deep, can do layers and mappings for drums, different loop modes and also slices (and the slicer is intuitive). i've tried almost everything else everyone has listed here...nothing came close except Redux (though i prefer Nuance for drums...).
