Have you guys seen the new drum sequencer in Studio One? - I downloaded the Studio One 4 demo today and WOw!
their new Drum Pattern Sequencer is nothing short of Amazing. With individual channel resizing, note repeat, probability trigger. This is the type of innovative sequencer that deserves to be in Waveform.

Yep, some very cool stuff in there! Not too dissimilar from our own step clips.

Food for thought here. They've taken (pinched) the Step Clip idea and run with it. Maybe time for some dev time on Step Clips?

operanfx, yes I do believe that they did take the step clip idea from Waveform. Presonus devs are known for borrowing ideas from every DAW. I was messing with the demo yesterday and I discovered that the modulation section at the bottom let's you assign basically any parameter to that section and not just the ones that you see there. That makes it so much more powerful. It also has a pianoroll view.

Propellerheads then went and made their own version of it too.
They went further and added independent playheads for each lane that plays backwards and/or forward. It's sick.
and other goodies as well.

Here's another tutorial video on the new drum and pattern edit modes in S1 v4.
Fast forward to the 4:15 minute mark if you want to skip the explanation of the new drum edit mode they added to the MIDI piano roll editor, and dive right into the pattern editor.

zzz00m Yeah I got a chance to mess with the demo and it's a great addition to S1 just like that video shows. The demand for advanced tools like this is high and many DAW developers are just starting to understand that. Motu just announced it's upcoming release of their flagship DAW Digital Performer 10 and they've implemented an Ableton type of clip performance but it looks slicker and does some things that Ableton's can't do. Point being that you can't fall a sleep in this business and you gotta listen to your customers.

Step clips would be enough for me if you could have multiple note values in one clip. That's my only real gripe.
Linux version?

What i like most about it is the way it is incorporated in Studio One. No popping up window, or a MIDI plugin kind of thing, but, just like i would use the key editor. I think that's also the main strength of Studio One, that it's all contained into the sequencer, and there's not a gazllion windows, or the need to use plugins for everything.
