Before I started using submix tracks in my latest work, I didn't know you couldn't render a MIDI clip to audio if it's in a submix track. What a pain! There is a long work-around, which involves copy the track, pasting the track, rendering the clip, dragging the rendered clip to the "correct"/original track, deleting the pasted track.
It would be so beautiful to just use "Render Clip" and the clip transforms from MIDI to audio (depending on the settings, of course).
I haven't tested this with Folder tracks to see if the same thing applies.

You can't render anything in a submix because of the way submixes work in W9. You can render within folder tracks. But fortunately, I'm pretty sure it's fixed in W10. I'd have to double check to make sure but I think it is fixed in W10.
Linux version?
