LFO rate automation in Zebra 2.8

Hello guys!

First let me say that I love all your plugs to the point that I’ve came to abandon some vsts that i’ve working for many years so that I can only focus my electronic music production to the whole u-He universe. Recently bought the new repro series and brilliant as always. :)

Ok so today I got the Zebra 2.8 and I was hoping that with this update the lfo rate could finally be automated in live, but unfortunately it still isn’t possible.

In all other u-He plugs the lfo rate is accessible over the configure options in the Vst expect for the Zebra2 case.

Can this be added? Also at this moment how can I automate this in Live without having to manually map the modulation knob at the side which is used to modulate the rate knob?

The reason for this question is that in my case I control all my vsts from the same midi controller so I don’t use mappings, instead I access specific vsts using Clyphx Pro to control the blue hand in live so therefore it needs to be a knob that controls rate in the vst options so that I can automate it.

The workaround I found so far is to map it to the X/Y grid, precisely X1 and then have that same parameter exposed in live in order to receive automation, but then again this is not practical because every time I load a different preset I have to do the same configuration every single time. Maybe I guess there may be something slipping me here?

For example in HIVE, because the rate is accessible in live for automation, I can preset surfing across various presets while playing around with the rate lfo and depth to test some sounds.

Yeah, assigning XY is the way to go. Right-click the X1 mod assignment slot to lock it across all patches. Sadly the min/max ranges don't get locked...

Alternatively, you should be able to have a dummy plugin that has an automatable slider that sends MIDI CCs (like Cockos' ReaControlMIDI... unless you're using AudioUnits...), then you MIDI learn the LFO rate in Zebra and there you have it... This is probably the best interim solution.

Thanks for the info EvilDragon.
I guess this is the only thing I’m missing with ZEBRA2. I play with lfo rate in most of my tracks so it’s kind of essential to have full control of this dedicated parameter especially in Zebra since the combinations are endless.

I’m really curious why this parameter isn’t yet directly available for automation.
Anyway I don’t know it this is the right place to ask this but would it possible to add this option?

Thanks

It's probably possible but it's not going to happen in a reasonable timeframe, considering the rest of plans that u-he HQ has :)

At least I hope that in ZEBRA3 this would be possible. :D
Anyway I'm really curious to see what will ZEBRA3 bring into the game since ZEBRA2 is already a beast of plug! <3
