I hate to pile on with things like this but I must say that I am glad I never bought any DS audio stuff. I've been on the fence a few times because his plugins are great but this quote really struck me "We hope that the benefits of Plugin Alliance platform could be worth enough for you to upgrade."
What benefits? Paying more to have a middle man involved doesn't help the end user at all. And I really don't get the whole plugin alliance thing. By consolidating forces, prices should go down via economies of scale and finding efficiencies. Instead they go up? That means it's just a middle man taking his cut.
It's a sad state of affairs that the music business is not about artists earning money for their art, it's about opportunists taking money from artists wherever they can wedge themselves in.

No I'm putting things into perspective based on personal experience.Stefken wrote: Fri Feb 08, 2019 4:01 pmYou are making excuses for the guy.Teksonik wrote: Fri Feb 08, 2019 3:50 pm This was just an unfortunate series of events that could have been thought out and handled much better. I guess you like him. But if anybody puts it in their head to make a case out of it, he could be in trouble.
I'm trying to hammer home the point that based on my dealings with him I doubt there was any malicious intent on the part of Dmitry. He simply didn't handle things as well as he could have. No need for anger but you can be disappointed as I am in how it was handled. Any anger is probably best directed at PA since if I'm not mistaken it's them who are requiring the fee.
Like I said Dmitry lives in Belarus so unless you are a Lawyer specializing in International Law I don't think you can say for sure what "trouble" he could be in over this event.
Like I said it's hard for one or two man operations to handle all the administration duties with the sale and support of their software so enlisting the services of a third party like PA makes sense from a business standpoint or once again I have to think Dmitry wouldn't have made the move.

Face it: We little KVRians witness a huge geostrategic operation developing behind the curtain.
Everyone knows that Belarus is a potential candidate for regime change™ accompanied by the inevitable sanctions. Therefore, moving business to a US-based company only happens to prevent from being affected by economical restrictions.
We must learn to read between the lines.

Thorn might be the very best sounding synth I know imho. If you haven't you should try it (and if you don't care about it it's your absolute right).

I think the benefits of PA relate mainly to the devs not having to spend time on marketing, something which often isn't their strong point. Instead they can focus on what they do best, making plugins. UA would be a good example of this, great devs who have certainly gained far more prominence as a result of PA's marketing.Local Man wrote: Fri Feb 08, 2019 4:12 pm "We hope that the benefits of Plugin Alliance platform could be worth enough for you to upgrade."

That's very good but the participants of such an arrangement should see a financial benefit through increased sales, not by raising prices and hitting existing customers with a $20 surcharge.mutantdog wrote: Fri Feb 08, 2019 4:18 pmI think the benefits of PA relate mainly to the devs not having to spend time on marketing, something which often isn't their strong point.
