I'd pick the one I like the best.

Why ? Because I like it better.

Try both demos and find out which one you like best.

This topic is not worse than any ”which one is better” -threads.
Its nice small talk. :tu:
And - some experienced users may rise features and potential, you didn’t notice.
I’m that stupid, that I learn always something new in these threads, anyway.

Post

But in the end it's better to choose which one you like better based on the Demos.

You'll certainly learn much more with hands on but perhaps that's the way it is these days. People want everything done for them without putting in the effort.

Sadly KVR has devolved into nothing more than "small talk" these days where members only want to talk about synths instead of using them. The chances of learning any useful information from such pointless discussions are slim at best. .........

Don't be so damn reasonable please... :)

Sorry I don't know what came over me..... :dog:

It's that whole "give a man a fish" vs "teach a man to fish" thing.......... :wheee:

I own both and I love them both for different reasons, but if I had to choose only one, the obvious choice would be Diva. The voice handling alone just might be the deciding factor here, and as many have said, she's a lot more flexible. Repro is amazing, and I plan on spending more time with it, but I personally prefer a bit more phatness, so I'm of that big, wide Jupiter-8 influence. I definitely roll with the more "Rolandy" side of vintage analog, which is why I love Zebra and Diva so much.

Post

Have been demoing both aswell. Would like to own both but I will go for Diva as I prefer the broader palette. But man.. those snappy but "clean" basslines in Repro.. I cant think of any other synth in soft or hw that sounds like that. :)

Post

Repro. It's what got me into software. Diva is great, but it wouldn't have gotten me into software. In fact I just bought it on the 50% off sale, and while I'm enjoying getting to know it, I am still much more fond of Repro overall.

Post

Due to the sale, I felt justified in getting both :)

It's a valid question IMO as you can demo both and like them both ....*raises hand*.... Hearing what others are doing with the synths can spur some ideas for your own uses that maybe you hadn't considered. I will say the the sound of both of the Repro engines grabbed me immediately a bit more than DIVA and I credit the amazing fx at least partly for that (not that Diva's are bad or anything).

Post

I usually turn the FX off, but somehow repros catch my ear more as well. I'm still getting around dive and it can do more than the repros, but my go-to "soft cheeky synth" is still repro. it was also the first U-he synth that pushed me over the edge, i was so impressed with the demo i immediately bought it.

For me the clear answer is both... plus Bazille and Hive for wavetables... hehehe

Post

With Diva I usually need a distorted HPF mixed in to remove the muffle.
This I could not imagine with Repro without blowing my ears off.

But Diva I find more versatile.
Brzzzzzzt.

Post

I keep forgetting that RePro-5 lacks the CtrlA and CtrlB functionality that Diva (as well as the other recently updated U-he synths) has and makes MPE a bit easier to use with Roli controllers. Every few months I think, "oh, it's got the new browser, it's got CtrlA and CtrlB" but then go to the preferences to find that RePro-5 actually doesn't. So in the Diva vs. RePro-5 (current state) debate, Diva works better with a Roli Controller because you can assign CC74 to one of those Controls and use it as an polyphonic modulator for cutoff or whatnot.

Post

I'm sure the CTRL A/B thing will be added to Repro-1/5, but yeah, I can't say when exactly.

No pressure from me. You've got enough on your plate already.
