T7 midi sustain controller treatment is odd?

I did a search on the forums but came up short on a solution or confirmation of my particular problem... so here it is.

Simply put, it seems that Tracktion 7 does not treat common midi keyboard sustain pedals as an integral note on/off controller for note input. It seems that the program will record pedal events (not that you can do a whole lot with that data by itself) but it separates them from initial note input on/off functions and doesn't sustain note input by default... like... most any other workstation (including very simple opensource projects).

Does anyone know if there is a midi setup dialogue that will account for this input integration of the sustain pedal? I have found this problem on all of my keyboards and pedals (M-Audio and Yamaha equipment, including the midi output of my Clavinova).

In short, I want to press my pedal, strike a key and have the midi note length sustain in the midi roll until I lift my pedal (which is usually how these events are recorded in other workstations).

I am running the Linux installation, if that helps.

Thanks for any help that can be offered. This is a 'deal breaker' for me if I can't get it to work. It's a shame too, because the layout and and function of the program is very nice and complete compared to other linux alternatives.

I think it really depends on the .vst you are using. Tracktion records the key and controller events as they happen, in the track they are recorded into. If the .vst doesn't recognize the sustain pedal or handle it properly, that's not really a DAW fault. Have you tried on a "good" piano .vst ?
