I am tinkering with adding some automation between my Novation Launchkey 49 Mk2 and WaveForm 10. Is there any way to send MIDI messages from WaveForm to the keyboard? I thought it would be under scripts but I can't seem to find anything there.

If I am way over my head here, please say so. :tu:

Cheers!

What kind of MIDI messages? You can set up a custom control surface to receive and now send MIDI messages that it has actions set for.

Alternatively you can need set a track's destination to a MIDI output to send it MIDI from the track's contents.

The Launchkey 49 has some specialized commands to enable certain functions for its InControl mode. Assigning tracks to different pads (to arm/play) tracks from pads is one of them. I am imagining a sort of startup script that recognizes the keyboard and sends commands via midi to enable and map these functions on the keyboard.

These commands are sent from the DAW to the keyboard on MIDI port 2.

Here is an excerpt from the programming manual:
The Launchkey has 2 MIDI ports, MIDI (port 1) and InControl (port 2). Unless otherwise
stated, all computer to Launchkey MIDI communication mentioned in this guide should be sent
on the InControl Port.

Here is another excerpt from the manual about enabling the extended (InControl) mode on the keyboard:
When you connect your Launchkey it will default to Basic mode.

To enter extended
mode send the following MIDI message to the Launchkey.

Extended Mode Online Message: MIDI Channel 16, Note C-1, Velocity 127
9Fh, 0Ch, 7Fh (159, 12, 127)

When the keyboard enters Extended mode the InControl buttons should light up.
Hope this helps you understand what I am attempting here :)

wewheeler, did you ever figure this out? I am pretty new to all this and have the Novation Launchkey 49 mkII. I am reading the exact same thing in the programming manual and can not figure out what to do.
