There are up to 111 sound files to download and install. Compare this to a 225 GB Spitfire Audio library, where you run their manager app -- that downloads, uncompresses then places the files in the desired location. Granted, it can take a long time given the size, but the process is managed. It's IK's product, so they can do what they want. I was just hoping they would take advantage of the large library foot-print, to rethink how sounds are managed with ST.jcgam wrote: Fri Feb 22, 2019 4:54 pmIs it really that bad? We only have to do it once. The new interface is GREAT!emasters wrote: Fri Feb 22, 2019 4:49 pm Unbelievable - how many files does one have to download and install??? I was concerned that IK would take the current process and just scale it up to 250 GB of content, versus getting a more automated process of downloading and installing. Really disappointed that IK did not invest the time and effort to rethink and retool the way content is downloaded and installed.
SampleTank 4 on the way

To be fair, there are pros and cons to both approaches and the topic has come up. I've already shot a few questions/requests up the chain based on this thread. Regardless of what approach you prefer (or in between) there are always ways to do things better so I've relayed everything I can toward that goal.

We early adopters tend to be more tech savvy. I can't imagine how the average user would navigate this - I feel sorry for IK tech support in the coming weeks! Just the fact that the standard install appears to be missing numerous files because of the naming convention. And the "new" Sampletank 3 downloads shouldn't go in the Sampletank 4 folder I'm guessing? Just keeping track of the downloads and what installs I've done is quite tedious. Sorry, I think it is a truly horrible system.Peter - IK Multimedia wrote: Fri Feb 22, 2019 5:17 pm To be fair, there are pros and cons to both approaches and the topic has come up. Thanks for listening, Peter. One thing that would help with the ST4 sound files, is knowing which subset of sound files are new to the ST4 Max release, versus legacy sound files that don't need to be re-downloaded (perhaps this exists and I didn't find it?). Many are self-evident in terms of what's new versus unchanged. Some may have changed, but it's not as evident. That would help one target where to focus downloading and installing the new content. Even something as simple as a mark by each sound file name, if it's new to ST4. Just a thought....Peter - IK Multimedia wrote: Fri Feb 22, 2019 5:17 pm To be fair, there are pros and cons to both approaches and the topic has come up. Does the USB drive version come with everything "unstuffed" so you just drag one big folder onto your hard drive?Peter - IK Multimedia wrote: Fri Feb 22, 2019 5:17 pm To be fair, there are pros and cons to both approaches and the topic has come up. Not sure if anyone else has noticed this so I'll ask again as it's now 3 pages back. I bought the standard version of ST4 and some of the downloads have gaps in their part numbering e.g. ST4 Acoustic Drum Kit Sample Part 1 followed by Part 4. Is that because you only get parts 2 and 3 with the MAX version or is there something missing from my downloads? I haven't finished downloading everything yet so can't install just yet to see if it causes a problem.
Does anyone else with the standard version have the same or maybe Peter could respond? Thanks

Yes, same here with Standard version - I'm assuming it is the difference between Standard and Max, but it sure is confusing - hard to keep track of what is downloaded and installed. I got everything downloaded early this morning... but I've spent the last several hours just unstuffing and installing (on a fast iMac with all SSDs)... still not done!receder wrote: Fri Feb 22, 2019 5:50 pm Not sure if anyone else has noticed this so I'll ask again as it's now 3 pages back. IMHO this is the biggest improvement needed for the IK product line. This issue became painfully obvious with the release of Syntronik. Now with SampleTank 4 and the massive amount of content available, it is no longer feasible to have a completely manual download, unpack, and install process.
Some automated help is needed! This is 2019 by the way! How hard could it be to implement?
Windows 10 and too many plugins

You will have the proper downloads for the version you registered, and yes there may be non-sequential files in the list.receder wrote: Fri Feb 22, 2019 5:50 pm Not sure if anyone else has noticed this so I'll ask again as it's now 3 pages back. We do not have plans for a free version at this time. There may be a demo in the future but there is no specific information to share there either beyond that.

I finally got ST4 Standard installed, but I can't authorize it. It prompts me to authorize, I paste in my Serial Number, it says it's SampleTank 4 is authorized, but AU plugin says it isn't authorized. The Authorization Manager asks for my Serial Numbers (plural) - am I supposed to have 2 serial numbers?
