He couldn't find steady work in America.
Kind of strange in retrospect.
He couldn't find steady work in America.
He's certainly not alone though, lots of acts first made it outside of their own country. In Hendrix's case he had Chas Chandler pushing to get him a record deal and made him the frontman of a band, whereas in the US Hendrix had followed a career as a sideman.
This is so cruel in so many ways... we'd need a couple of subforums of HPC to discuss it.
Still, the population density of the USA is 10 times greater than that of Australia, so it's still relatively crowded.Deep Purple wrote: Tue Feb 26, 2019 5:42 pmThe US is something like 40 times larger than the UK, but only has 5 times the population, although as you say, there are large areas of the US that are pretty much unpopulated.
You know, there are a lot of bad things in America, is true, but not all Americans are what you say they are, as any country in the world there are cultural problems and corruption in history.BONES wrote: Tue Feb 26, 2019 11:45 pm The obvious answer to the original question is that Americans are just krap at anything worthwhile. They can't even elect proper people to run the joint.
I know - I visited Perth many years ago, and was surprised at how isolated it is from other cities. To my knowledge, pretty much all of the populated areas of Australia are coastal, yet there are areas of coastline that go on for hundreds of miles without seeing any civilization. I also drove through the Nulabor and saw that famous sign "Next gas station 100km" (or whatever the number on it is).BONES wrote: Tue Feb 26, 2019 11:43 pmStill, the population density of the USA is 10 times greater than that of Australia, so it's still relatively crowded.Deep Purple wrote: Tue Feb 26, 2019 5:42 pmThe US is something like 40 times larger than the UK, but only has 5 times the population, although as you say, there are large areas of the US that are pretty much unpopulated.

Are you sure? If you live on the coast, it could happen and you wouldn't know about it until it was too late.herodotus wrote: Wed Feb 27, 2019 12:34 amOn the brighter side, none of us has to have you for a neighbor, so there's that.BONES wrote: Tue Feb 26, 2019 11:45 pm The obvious answer to the original question is that Americans are just krap at anything worthwhile.
