Except you don't know me or my music and my thread is 8 pages long. So I am not that stupid. It just takes a while to clear out the trolling riff raff.
The bottom line is this. You don't have to pay the prices if you don't want to. There are open source alternatives. There are also lost of free VSTs. The question for you is, how much is your time worth.

Anyways, consumerism goes hand in hand with marketing, advertising and sales. I personally fall into the group that believes the quality of music software is amazing these days (I have been tinkering with computer music since the SoundFont days..) and the prices are really quite reasonable and decent for what you get. Basically for an investment of < $1,000 you can have yourself a half decent totally mobile music production studio where you can work on your music 24/7 if you want to. That's quite amazing when you think about what it used to cost and require to work on music.

The bigger issue I think that lurks in electronic music communities is GAS, and that's a direct byproduct of the consumerist society we exist in. We buy more tools than we actually use or even need to create the music we want.

I don't get the video dude?
I guess I was trying to use break dance as an analogy for the NI / U-He sales initiative than happened which boosted U-he products in the marketplace. What I was trying to say was, it would be amazing in NI sales staff cut a deal with Omnishpere and offered a high end product at a killer price point.

Anyways, electric boogaloo to you too.
