W10 access code issue

I lodged a request for assistance with Tracktion Support (#20158) a few days ago. I did receive one fairly useless "response" but nothing for a few days. Trying here to see if I can get more action.

The issue I have is that when loading my full version of W9.3.2 the program asks me if I want to log-into my account to check for updates. If I agree then, even though the correct details are populated, the system says it cannot connect and to try again later or something like that (I now usually just skip this whole exercise).

This has been going on for a while and though a bit annoying is easy enough to by-pass. But, I have now downloaded the W10 demo. Still the same issue. Which means I cannot download the access code to achieve full 30 day evaluation access. I am not even sure I have all of the things I need for this version (is there a demo song that uses the new features?).

Looking forward to some help. Or at least some way of getting an offline access code.

Thanks.

If you have one of those "Internet Security" programs on your computer with a built-in firewall, make sure the firewall is not blocking Waveform from communicating with the servers across the internet.

I'm not exactly clear on what the problem is.
The download manager/update checker is separate from the registration process.
To start the 30-day W10 trial, you simply need to enter your tracktion.com username and password in the box that prompts you when you start.

You might have already done this however.
When you start the app, do you see a blue banner at the top of the app that informs you the app is unregistered?
The second thing to check is the "About" box which you can view by clicking the "Help" -> "About" button in the bottom left corner of the app. (If you're using the slim transport bar you'll need to get to the menu via the hamburger menu button).

Once you've shown the about box, it should tell you if the app is registered and if you're in the 30-day trial how many days are left.
This info is also displayed on the splash screen at app startup.

The issue is that the program - let's limit this to W10 - cannot seem to communicate with the Tracktion website. It says something like, you seem to have an working internet connection but we are having a problem, try again later. Later is just the same. I understand this connection is required in order for me to receive the access code and so unlock the demo, get the full features and not have the annoying voice interrupt. If my understanding is wrong on this please advise how to get the access code. Simple email would work for me!!!

I am not aware of having a firewall, but will check this out when I get the chance. If this is the issue, why would this behaviour have started with W9.3.2?

I've a vague memory of having something like this when I had the Waveform 9 beta, but it was a problem on the website and was rectified within a few days, so shouldn't still be causing problems.

There are two ways to authorise Waveform. The standard one is to log in through Waveform itself; that act itself, if it works, authorises Waveform. It's not a case of having to get a code. The other way is to download a licence key file from the Tracktion site.

This is how to get started with the offline authorisation method. For this, you need to be able to log into your account on the Tracktion website via your browser. You'll download a licence file, which you can do on any computer.

Thanks Jabe - this is exactly what I wanted to know.

OK. I have looked at this a bit more.
1. I do not have firewall, only use MS security essentials on my music computer.
2. I can log-into my Tracktion account using a browser.
3. Cannot see any way of obtaining an unlock Waveform 10 offline - its deosw not appear in teh dropdown list that the article I have been referred to talkas about.
4. I am pretty close to giving up on both Waveform 10 and Tracktion generally

I realise dRowAudio's reply might be the "official" response in lieu of my support ticket which seems to have died, so I will reply as follows:

This process sounds good - I wish it worked for me!!!

Yes, I do see that banner. I would like not to.

Um, not sure what you are telling me here. The demo I have is still unlocked and annoying.

Again, I do not really see this. What I see is a pop-up with my log-in details. I fill that in and get nowhere - hence this thread.

What I really want is a way to do offline unlock. I was referred to an old "article" that offered hope, but sadly the information seems a bit out of date as there is no way of getting the required file for Waveform10 (demo or otherwise).

This is where it shows the option on mine:

Hope that does the trick.

Does the software dropdown under offline unlock include an option for waveform 10? Mine does not.
Has anyone managed to offline unlock waveform 10? How?

I unlocked online, the normal method, but I just checked and mine does have the option for Waveform 10. I did purchase it however, not sure if this might be different for the demo compared to the purchased version?

So when you login to the tracktion website, and go to this link ;

https://marketplace.tracktion.com/shop/offline-unlock/

Do you have Tracktion Waveform10 Basic in the list?

Please ignore any W10 BETA in this list. It uses a different authorisation system so won't generate working key files for the W10 released version.

As I've said before this list is only populated with products that are in your account and it's the process of typing in your username and password to the W10 in-app registration dialog that start the W10 30-day trial. Without doing this, it won't appear as an offline-unlockable product.

The only way to get this to work is for our webmaster Brian to manually add it for you. And for that, you need to contact him at support@tracktion.com. But it sounds like you already have an open ticket with him. Has he been able to start the trial period and send you an offline keyfile?

Catch-22 for me since this "dialog" is broken. FYI the top line of "My Account" Recent Orders is Order #152261504 TRIAL - Tracktion Waveform10 Exreme SKU trac120100t Price $0.00. I think the problem must be either with my installation of Waveform (ie my existing version) or my account or both.

No he hasn't and I have been waiting for "Brian" to respond for a week now. Meantime, I will will just ditch W10 and ask for him to contact me about fixing my existing installation/account, I guess.

Dumb question, but you've checked your junk mail folder, right?
