Is it possible to get 3rd party wavetables working in the Mac build? Where would I place them? They don't show up if I add them to the same location as the factory wavetables.

Good question! So far, 3rd party wavetables can be dumped to /Library/Application Support/Surge/wavetables/yourfolder

However, there will, eventually, be a separate wavetables folder on ~/Documents/Surge/wavetables/(yourfoldershere)

but that's yet to be implemented. Work on it has started, however.

Remember to restart Surge if you add files into the Surge/folder (goes for presets and wavetables). and, for now, they should be .wt files.

Not sure if this has been mentioned anywhere, and it's only a nit, but there is a typo in the drop-down for the wavetable categories: "rhytmic" should be "rhythmic", I guess.

This typo has been fixed, too.

also, Arty's Reverb, Distortion & Delay FX presets have been added into the newest builds. Check em out!

i'm not sure what the status is on Making the current versions of Surge use
.wav files like the older v1.5, so those files may be of no use
for v1.6 users ATM.

.wav drag + .wav load for wavetables are on the roadmap but there's still quite a bit more stuff to do before they are the Next Thing to be Fixed (TM)

Care to share the wavetables? Would love to try them with Surge and other wavetables too. I can post them in other formats once converted, as retribution.

Can ya PM me, too? would love to give them a whirl. There's always the possibility of adding them into the 3rd party wavetable folders for Surge in the future, depending on what their copyright state is. (i.e. would Ensoniq disapprove?)

Can we make feature requests here?
I'd really appreciate it if the waveforms would move and change to show the effect of modulation like they do when you use the mouse.

I've done a sort of euro-techno one synth demo with it in Ableton, including drum sounds. All from other's presets of course. It's hardly the Pet Shop Boys, but I don't mind putting the live pack up for download. It sounds great considering there are absolutely no FX at all.

Might you have a SoundCloud link for this? Would be interesting to hear.

heres a video i made of me making classic VFX patch from scratch for Surge
using a VFX Transwave i made and an attack transient wav from
a VFX PCM sound, and the built in FM osc.
i'm no live player so excuse the chimp at controller playing.

Would be awesome if all FX parameters could accept modulation, esp the sends. Any plans for that ?

the SLFO allow for modifying FX parameters, but not all. There are tickets on GitHub about implementing more controls. Most of them are available via SLFO's (instead of LFOs).

Here's a little update, we're up to 1.6beta6. Was told to post this:

If anyone has downloaded beta5 they should do this:
1. Reboot
2. Don’t run any surges after reboot
3. Install beta 6
4. Everything will then be fine

beta6 also contains several other cool changes. Like using lato consistently on all platforms; and adding scroll wheel support for editing; and having the shift/flash of popups be gone..

If you did a build yourself and installed locally it will create that folder. If that folder exists it will be the preferred one (which is the MacOS standard behavior basically). So best thing if you don’t want that is just remove the local copy and the plugin will default to the one in /library

Beta7 will have the ability to put wavetables in ~/documents/surge along with patches and that will sort all this out.
