Any chance we could have an answer on when us USB purchasers can expect to receive our software? I would at least have expected an "it's on it's way" email from IKM, if only as a common courtesy! Having paid 15 Euro for delivery of essentially a USB stick, I was hoping this would have been delivered by now, but as far as I know it's not even been shipped yet.

Very poor comms on this one IKM - I expected better :(
I know there have been USB orders shipped, received, and installed so they are shipping. You can get your order status in your IK User Area under My Orders and you should see the tracking information once it has.
Thanks for the quick reply Peter, but my order shows as:

Order Status INPROGRESS
Shipping Date 0000-00-00
Carrier
Tracking Number

So I'm no wiser... other than it seems mine still hasn't been shipped yet a week after the download version was available :dog: :x

Not a happy customer here!

samples import doesn't seem to work at all.
I don't know what to write here that won't be censored, as I can only speak in profanity.

Peter - IK Multimedia wrote: Thu Feb 28, 2019 8:23 pm ... The VST3 version should be stable in DAWs though, so I'd also recommend reporting any issues with the VST3 version to IK Support. Crashing issues have been fixed in 4.0.2 and if there were reported issues with specific DAWs reported and verified those would be fixed too either in 4.0.2 or an upcoming update depending on when they were reported, verified, and fixed by dev.
In order pursue the topic further, I would have to steer this thread off topic. The larger issue of VST2 versus VST3 -- all plugins, not just ST4 or even IK Multimedia -- is complex. Steinberg would like us to believe it's simple, but it's not.

Next issue - some new guitars are not authorized. The Black LP and the Parlor acoustic specifically show up in my list of Standard content, and they are listed as included in Standard edition, but when I try to load them, it tells me I'm not authorized for MAX edition. Anyone else see this?

There are version 1.2 library updates in your IK User Area that should rectify this.

after forcing Studio One into 'seeing' ST4 VST (and not the VST3 version... i moved VST3 version to desktop temporarily) i can report that S1v4.1.3 Pro is STILL crashing to desktop while Ableton and FL Studio can use the VST (2.4) without a problem after the 4.0.2 update under Win10. at least on my end

p.s. if S1 'only' sees and uses VST3 versions then why do i have Miro 2 and SampleTank3 as VST2 and VST3 listed? (both versions) but not MODO, Syntronik and now SampleTank4. (they see and list only VST3 versions) when i install any plugin... generator or effect... i always install all three versions if offered (VST2, VST3 and AAX) matter of fact i have a slew of plugins that list both VST2 and VST3 versions in S1v4 so i don't completely trust Studio One's support claim that you posted Peter. but THAT is par for the course with Presonus lol cheers

For instance drums: Would you say they are on the level of previous Sampletank libraries, Infinite Drums/Ocean Way, or AddictiveDrums?

I'm assuming the sound engine is improved. Is there a noticeable difference using raw ST4 content vs. ST3/ST2?

Please elaborate upon whatever you feel is necessary

....Wait this is KVR...I didn't need to say that last part.
I only have Standard Edition so my "new" content is rather sparse, but the ST3 Standard edition fills in most of the blanks and some of that it truly excellent (and relatively new to me, as well, since I upgraded from ST3 SE just before ST4 was announced).

I'm pretty impressed with the C7 Grand Piano. Some of the world/ethnic content is truly spectacular and definitely on the same page as the NI stuff. I REALLY like the one patch using the Parlor acoustic that I am able to use (i have an authorization issue with the rest of the new guitars for some reason) I can see using this a lot - even though I am primarily a guitar player, LOL! I'm noticing a better dynamic range and authenticity to most of the new content, in general - I'm assuming more round robins and velocity layers.

The Vintage and Acoustic Pop kits included in ST4 standard are pretty good and more dynamic than the ST3 ones, which aren't bad, but they probably wont replace Modern Drummer for me.

Basses are awesome, but they were in ST3 as well - high point there
Synths are pretty good, as well, but I have Syntronik Deluxe which I LOVE!

The thing that trumps NI for me is the workflow. I have Syntronik, Philharmonik, ST3, ST4, very premium effects, and a single workflow for everything. The envelops, LFOs, filters (awesome filters, btw, based on Syntronik), strummer and arppegiator all work with the Legacy and ST3 content - the only thing that doesn't really that I see is the mod matrix, which is no show stopper for me (disclaimer: there are probably things I haven't found yet, though).

NI's workflow has always seemed disjointed to me - but I have some of their stuff and will continue to use it where it works for me.

Overall, I am very happy with ST4 and I believe it will serve me well.

Thanks for the review 👍 What are your thoughts on the chromatic percussion, Rhodes/EPs, orchestra and choirs?

Did you try to import a whole folder? It worked when I tried that... at least on the 1st version.

I see the same thing with Phiharmonik 2 and SampleTank 3. Both VST2 and VST3 show up in Studio One.

I can only assume that they were developed with an older version of the VST development tools, and do not flag the plugin software the same way as the newer plugins do. The DAW is evidently looking for something specific in regards to "use this, not this", and the new plugins are likely to be more standards compliant. It's not a problem for me if I understand what it is trying to do.

I now see the same situation here with all of my Applied Acoustic Systems and Arturia plugins that have both VST2 and VST3 version installed. Studio One is excluding those VST2 plugins too.

But with my u-he plugins, I see both versions in Studio One.

So it isn't just an IKM thing. It's more like a VST standards thing.

Been following this thread and does SampleTank 4 Max include all of the ST3 sounds or just some?

I'm 99.9% its all, but I had ST3 before, so someone else could confirm 100%, maybe?

Post

right zzz00m... seems that way and thnx for noting it too. maybe it is just VST2 implementation but i have found a LOT of quirky stuff with S1 over the years. cheers

p.s. certainly not putting this one on Ik's back since the VST2 versions work in other DAWs

It contains all from SampleTank 3 MAX. The list shows this at the end: https://www.ikmultimedia.com/products/i ... uments.pdf

You'll see SampleTank 3/Free/SE there plus the collections that were part of SampleTank 3 MAX. Thanks!
