He said on FB there won't be Ultimate bundle. But instead, he'll be adding stuff free to existing bundles.
Never say never :hihi: I'm pretty sure there will be an "Ultimate" sometime in the future
I hope not. Just got both bundles few minutes ago :D

Funkybot's Evil Twin wrote: Fri Mar 01, 2019 6:25 pmI'm hanging back and waiting for VCV Rack to officially go VST. Should be in the next year. They seem to have a much more open policy regarding free and paid modules. They may level the playing field just by being more open and letting people build and charge what they want.
You know the VCV's VST will be $99 too?

Don't be surprised if there will be more paid modules as well... Also, I think price of the modules & bundles is dictated by their authors, not by VM.
Yeah, I'm aware it'll cost $99. I'm under the impression that developers for VCV can release as many free modules as they want and control the pricing for their modules. That's what I was talking about. Voltage Modular has some rules around what you can release and how if I'm not mistaken. Dan or someone from Cherry can chime in to clarify if there's some misinformation being spread, but it seems like I couldn't just download the SDK and release 50 free modules if I wanted. Whereas VCV allows for just that.

You're right. Just read the FAQ and it says max 2 free modules and min $10 price :(

This means Vult cannot release the promised free additions to the bundles, then?

The question is, how many bundles he will come up with.

I don't mind to pay a good money for quality stuff, hence I already got the Macaulay and Vult Rage bundle. If the Fury bundle is supposed to be Vult's last one I would get it soon as well, but if there should be more it's going to become to pricey for my taste.

I'm assuming that individual FREE is not the same thing as adding modules to an existing bungle.
So, it should be possible to add non-free modules to the store while also be able to include them into existing bundles without increasing the bundles price.

I understood the single modules won't be free, rather they will be added to the bundles without an upgrade fee.

It's a new platform and they've been very receptive to customer feedback so far, so maybe it'll change. Especially around limiting how many free modules can be released. That one just seems particularly silly to me.

I'm of the "more free modules, particularly really good ones, encourages more sales for Cherry Audio and forces commercial module developers to really step their game up" mindset. That seems win-win to me.

The other thing I think people should keep in mind is that you don't need to "collect them all." These aren't Pokemon. I've been dabbling with the VeeSeeVST plugin, and the free VCV modules alone could keep me busy for the rest of my life.

Another matter is that, not everyone wants to sell their modules in the first place. This rule will prevent the appearance of some really great stuff from hobbyist types.

He still have quite a few modules he built for VCV that didn't appear yet in VM. One of them, which is part of the VCV Compacts Bundle, is a complete synth on its own (Incubus). But two other modules from the Compacts (Knock and Vorg) were already included.

Besides that one, other modules that didn't appear yet are a Russian filter, a Manifold filter (this one is also part of the Compacts Bundle, and consists in all filter modules in a single module), Tohe (a kind of single band EQ), Julste (a low pass gate), Flame (Analog distortion based on guitar pedals), Trummor2 (Drum (and Percussion Synthesizer), Flux (a quad voltage processor), and several other utilities modules.

I think Leonardo's inventory is simply too much to add for free (considering he released bundles with eight modules). Manifold, Incubus and Trummor2 (just these three) would be enough for a new bundle (considering what they have).

I like the Vult stuff as well, I am interested in the hardware versions though. Would have bought 1 last night, but he only had 1 left. :(

There is another problem. Mutable Instruments modules code is released for free (as open-source under the MIT license). Someone could pick the code and compile it to run in VM, but they cannot sell them (unless they reach some kind of agreement with Mutable Instruments, as Softube did). Since they cannot release them for free either, I think these will never appear. And they are simply superb.

Yeah, I had a look at the meantime. Smells like 3 total bundles at least.

Thanks for the good description of the Vult modules. :)

The question is, how many bundles he will come up with.....

And the Vessek Osc.... I was hoping for this one to be included. All other osc's are, but the most interesting imo not (yet). Well, there is enough to be expecting at least one more bundle.

I'm holding back until then. As good as these modules are, being selective at this point is important.
At 80 dollars a pop, it soon adds up as Wags is finding out. For 80 dollars you can buy a complete synth.
