I don't care how fancy apple's shit is. If their PC's n' Apps lock me in to only using "their PC's n' Apps" then I say lose their Yuppy, Guppy platform.
So I assume that windows PCs and apps don't lock you into using Windows PCs and apps...
eh no .... windows (ie microsoft) doesnt try to force you to buy their audio program, movie editor, photo editor, acid clone etc - and lets face microsoft dont have to coerrce too many of us to use oriffice - even mac users get that for compatibilty sakes
Apple makes excellent software products. You can choose to use them or not.

My interpretation of juanito's original quote was that by buying a Mac I am forced to use the manufacturer's software apps. And of course, this is just not the case... I bought Logic before it was an Apple app. I don't have any other Apple software that doesn't come free with the machine. And I'm able to do everything I need to. So his point? and Yours?

And since when does Microsft not try to force you to buy their software apps?

Come.

On.

Get.

Real.

thnx for forgiving me. ......i am out of this thread.

only thing that bugs me about the upgrade is no student discount on the upgrade... course, i got Pro 6 for $500 on student discount, so i don't have much room to complain. :D

It's called negotiation Dude. Snip...
Agreed!!! Sorry, it was early and I had yet to finish my first cup of coffee. I meant whining on a forum such as this one where I doubt anyone from Apple is listening, but I'm all for complaining directly to the source. Then again, a forum is exactly the place where one should organize such a protest/complaint. So, I stand corrected after reading your excellent point. :)

I haven't seen it, but I've read Joel Bakan's research before. I'm sure it's worth supporting, and contrary to the misreadings here of my previous posts, I mostly agree with his assessments.
Hi Shamann,

I think it is great that someone is doing something to correct the public perception fostered by the corporate world that the subversion of democracy and community values by corporate power is somehow the natural order of things.

Corporations used to bid for government favor by saying "what is good for the XXX Company is good for America" - providing jobs, providing skills etc.

Nowadays, the idea that the company should benefit the community that sanctioned its creation seems all but abandoned. They are free to fire all their workers in the local community and move the business to whatever third world country will prostrate itself most abjectly to get the investment dollars.

Wasn't it Plato who said that your intention in writing should be to inform or entertain - I s'pose one out of two ain't bad ;-)

Ah. That must be why almost no windows users use Internet Explorer or Windows Media stuff, and rather use other programs that are just as well integrated in the system, but better designed.

Ditto. Faculty, but otherwise.

There doesn't seem to be an upgrade from the old Big Box to Express.

Anyone any idea what I can do with a Big Box plus synth collection, basically ES2?

I wonder if someone with Logic Express can use the ES2 code. That should be worth a dime or two. Not more than that, but still.

So that's $300 (big box) + $300 (synth collection) + $500 (Pro, academic). Yes, we're getting up there.

I use iTunes and QuickTime on my XP machine. How ironic is that?

All I need to be happy is one more VSTi.

dr.wackler wrote:I also paid for Platinum 4.8 to 5.0 and 5.0 to 6.0 in one go. Then Pro6 came out. ES2 and Evoc were tempting, but I switched on my brain: I knew that Ultrabeat and Sculpture were announced, so there would be another update soon. As they had changed their update system with Pro6 to what it is now, it was only logical for me to wait for 7. No mixed messages from Apple there. Hence, if I had bought Pro6 it would have been my free decission to waste money on something that I didn't really need. And so it was for Macha. It's not that he didn't get anything for his money.
Re-read the paragraph you wrote above and tell me that's not complicated. It sounds like some bizarre ritual. Don't be so obstinate and admit that working out Logic upgrades is like trying to complete the last level of Doom 3. :D

Another Bad Move for Emagic, after deceiving their PC users, they're pissing off their Mac Users, plus it seems that for all the new stuff a G5 seems to be the minimum config to run the new plugins with some confort... just make new cool stuff, but be lazy on the optimization, so the users will need new hardware to use it... Magic !!! :D E-Magic.

With SX3, Sonar 4, DP , delay compensation, and emagic/apple's capitalist approach to get the maximum cash out of musicians. i wish Good luck to all the Logic Audio Evangelists

lol! why should i feel better ? did i make it out of nothing ? or am i talking about facts ?

Logic 7 has delay compensation yes? or no ?
If you bought logic 6 pro, one week before the release of 7, do you get logic 7 update for free ?

don't they recommend a G5 ?

If you find this cool, well then it's cool, as far as i'm not concerned...

Sorry if i pissed you off

I just wonder out of what motivation you think you have to give your comments and wish Logic users good luck when it obviously shouldn't touch you at all. The only thing I can think of is to feel better after giving your comments. Or what's your motivation?
