Thanks. One huge difference is that Outlaw apparently doesn't have sidechain (at least it's not showing up in Bitwig or Waveform), whereas MAutovolume lets you sidechain as many tracks as you want. I've already got Waves Vocal Rider and Bass Rider---Vocal Rider has sidechaining but Bass Rider doesn't, and I'm looking more for autogain with sidechaining for cases where Vocal Rider, being optimized for mid to high range vocals, isn't optimal....yellowmix wrote: Sun Mar 03, 2019 9:46 pmI demoed them for a bit over a variety of material, and it really depends on the nature of the material.Ou_Tis wrote: Fri Mar 01, 2019 8:50 pm Considering Outlaw Gain Rider $8 introductory sale---but if I get MAutovolume, it will just be a waste of money... but if Outlaw is good enough, I'll save money by not having to get MAutovolume... how do they compare? Only review I found (not counting Plugin Boutique's user reviews 0.20 pound / review) said it's good but cpu intensive... but sale lasts until March 18th so I should have a few weeks to demo them both.
Outlaw's CPU is pretty low on my end. It's variable with the RMS but perfectly reasonable to me. Might be a graphics issue? Anyway, really quick and easy workflow, GUI is clear and concise, it performs very well on a variety of material. It failed on an extreme test case. This was a zero-attack synth with long silent gaps where it could not drop the gain fast enough even at "instant". Outlaw is strictly a zero-latency plugin. Easily remedied by combining it with a compressor.
MAutoVolume has the advantage of configurable lookahead (incurring latency), which helped with that extreme case. It also has a noise reduction algorithm. So there are these extras which justify a higher pricepoint. But in many cases did not perform at the fundamental task as well as Outlaw. So right now can't beat the price/performance ratio. Try them out yourself.
On the bright side I realized that Synthmaster is MPE compatible, though the Plugin Boutique sales page doesn't mention it. So I can use that for the free Denise Noize... unfortunately from trying the free version of Synthmaster Player with the Seaboard, the default preset pitch bend either isn't working or is so minimal that it's not worth it, which I'd assume would also apply to the $5 version of Synthmaster Player, though in full Synthmaster demo with pitch bend adjusted to maximum it's nice with the Seaboard. Hmm....

Can the PA vouchers be traded? I'd be interested in buying a $25 one if anyone here doesn't want to use their March code (got a transferred plugin I really don't want to pay $24 for unlocking)...

Dunno, I understand, if you spent alot of money and other people get higher vouchers, that you're not pleased.pekbro wrote: Wed Mar 06, 2019 10:19 pm Also, I own easily 70% of their plugins, this qualifies me for upgrades and whatnot.
Their system takes precedence on these applying them automatically. I can only
see the base price on a few items.
Anyway, I'll have a look. TBH I am weary of them anyway. I was dropped down
to the $25 from $75 when they changed things. I have spent enough to move
back up. I will only get the higher voucher if I ask them for it, they tell me
the system is slow to catch up. It has been 6 months, still only getting the lowest tier.
I am seriously tired of dealing with it...
In general, I think they treat existing customers not too bad. Even that they send out regular vouchers is kinda nice, their latest specials were also not bad at all.
But I would subscribe, that all customers should be treated equally, if you're worth a $50 voucher, you should get it.

I don't think it would need to be stickied. It would naturally be bumped up to the top of page 1 at the start of the month. Problem is "this s**t" would continue to be posted in this thread too. I agree with you - so over PA vouchersGreyLion wrote: Wed Mar 06, 2019 10:12 pm Is there any way to get a separate PA voucher and deal discussion stickied? This s**t is endless and repeated over and over at great length every month. And it's always the same, though the plugs are different.
Meh

Their email said you can only use one of each type of voucher, but you can combine a $25, $50, and/or $75 voucher.yehboy1 wrote: Thu Mar 07, 2019 5:58 pm Can multiple vouchers be used for one PA item? Like if I receive a $25 in my email, can I then go and buy another one in this forum and then use both at once?
So you can't use two $25 vouchers, but you can use a $25 and a $50 voucher.

No. You cannot combined multiple monthly vouchers at the same time.yehboy1 wrote: Thu Mar 07, 2019 5:58 pm Can multiple vouchers be used for one PA item? Like if I receive a $25 in my email, can I then go and buy another one in this forum and then use both at once?
Also, you cannot use a Plugin Alliance monthly voucher of the same amount twice in the same month. On the other hand, you can use a $25 voucher, a $50 voucher, and a $75 voucher in the same month on different transactions. (This could always change at anytime though)

anyone here uses a virtual credit card to pay for Pace Transfer fees for iLok license, or did in the past? And if, which ones do you use or can you recommend?

No such thing as a must have. Download the demo and try it (obvious suggestion, I know.)D.Wako wrote: Thu Mar 07, 2019 6:25 pm Would you guys say this is a must have? Some say it's unique?
Do you feel you have a need for a multi-band compressor? If so this seems a good one. I'm not convinced I need one. Apparently they're great for fixing problem mixes where you don't have the individual tracks/instruments/recording environment to work with. I control my mixes in all aspects so can make sure such problems get fixed at the source instead of after the fact.
It is supposed to have other uses as well - that is for replicating the sound of other instruments/mixes by analyzing and producing a compression curve which will try to get your instrument/mixes to match. I've heard mixed reports about how well this works and I haven't had a chance to try it yet. Hopefully will before the sale ends.
