Why, when you can just use Synth1?
I guess the closest would be Hive, but, again, i wonder why not to just use Synth1. It's free, it's 64-bit, it supports PC and Mac... if you want that sound, there's no need to try and replicate it with anything else, if it's available for free.

You could replicate the structure in Zebra or, at a push, Hive. The sound character - tried it with some of my own S1 patches without success. It's a cheap bristly paint brush versus fine sable paint brush type of thing - maybe possible to recreate the effect of the former with the latter, but difficult and rather pointless.

Oh ok.. if Hakey battled with that then I guess its a lost cause... that goes to show that Synth1 is really a gem.. There are 80's and 90's presets that I wanted to translate to a uhe synth. . Gues I will have to study diva hive and repro Pro1/5 to do the patches natively to get a similar
sound

They will sound different. Whether they sound better is subjective.hakey wrote: Sat Mar 09, 2019 2:15 pm Simple patches should be fairly easy to copy and should sound better.
Synth 1 has it's own character which is why it remains one of the most popular synths ever released at least in the land of freeware.
I can't see the point in spending one second trying to duplicate the sounds of Synth 1 on any other developer's synths since it's free, stable, and sounds awesome.
