Is music just an elaborate arpeggio?

Chords, scales, harmony, melody, etc.

But on topic, there is another example of melody being primary. Note all the sonorities which are in flux, because of *linear* interest.

Who?

And they define modernity to whom, where, why and regarding what?

Is that so evident that you do not need say?

Post

"Modernity in the present"
LMAO

who will define it two whole minutes from now...

Post

humans are too slow to perceive the present.
damn neural latency! :x
:ud:

Teh Google, in response to search terms has:
Showing results for Drake, Halsey, DJ Khaled
Search instead for Drake, Hasley, DJ Khalid

never heard of any of them even by their actual names

Is this supposed to be authoritative?

If that is supposed to support your 'Modern people and modern audiences' don't care about whether melody is quality or about musicianship (which was the goal you shot at), you're only running around in circles conveying but a certain vacuity, I'd say.

Post

ive heard of drake.
he kicked the spanish armadas ass back in the day.

LMAO

<VIDEO: Halsey dances and twerks to Chance The Rapper
The song she's grooving to is from DJ Khaled, Justin Bieber, and Chance The Rapper called "No Brainer." She notes that Chance The Rapper makes "booties werk all around the world.">

Everybody finds their level, I guess. Yeah, one really has to embrace this shit or have a closed mind.

:idiot:

"defined by" - the pompousness of that and we find this is your goalpost
seriously, you made my morning with that

Looks to me like "DJ Khaled" is kinda 2011 tho ;)

Post

one of the sillier things in that, abstracted as it is by Incarnate's quote, is 'modernity is [defined by]' which one supposes looks more serious than 'modern is...'
Because as a term *modernity* is a whole thing in various disciplines.

EG: In the view of Michel Foucault (1975) (classified as a proponent of postmodernism though he himself rejected the "postmodernism" label, considering his work as a "a critical history of modernity"—see, e.g., Call 2002, 65), "modernity" as a historical category is marked by developments such as a questioning or rejection of tradition; the prioritization of individualism, freedom and formal equality; faith in inevitable social, scientific and technological progress, rationalization and professionalization, a movement from feudalism (or agrarianism) toward capitalism and the market economy, industrialization, urbanization and secularization, the development of the nation-state, representative democracy, public education (etc.) (Foucault 1977, 170–77).

So "modernity is defined by..." cannot but make me laugh at the pretense (and I had a pretty good guess at the quality of goalpost before that)...

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Modernity#Definition

▹ Political
▹ Sociological
▹ Cultural and philosophical
▹ Secularization
▹ Scientific
▹ Artistic
et cetera

but really it's Justin Bieber, Chance The Rapper and making booties werk all around the world, isn't it.

Look up the word "defined" some day, too

Post

So quelle surprise there are people who don't care more than that, but why is that a metric or a point, the point 'but there is shit melody' is only underscored by pointing to that. Oh, I remember, you wanted me to be closed-minded and not modern for having the interest.

Oh my. And they locked the produzahs thread as it was but trolling. If this is modernity, we ARE doomed. Am I lying?

Post

I figured you'd locked it.

The people spoke!

No, while it appears people are getting stupider exponentially every second, there is evidently a lot of interest in musicianship and creating new forms among the young people, there is surely more interest than there ever was.

And dancing fun silly times is not the same goalpost at all, which was already true with Disco (I was aware of the difference in jazz going back to WWII: Dance vs Concert band). Far be it from me to discourage it, but as anything to bring in talking about music it's just a nothingness today.
(once upon a time, the dance band was populated by the same quality musicians as 'Concert' essentially)

yeah, people reported it, surely
they aren't going to stand for it

im not sure it was subject matter as oppose to the aggressive manner with which sides where being argued.
it did get a bit heated for something which essentially, isn't important
