I like channel pressure myself even though my Roland controller uses a light beam instead of actual CP. I am real curious to know how it feels. Since the light beam is a whole different creature.

I will release a new bank "Purple Mist" this week. It will be on the Fathom site as well.
The CP feels very natural. I'm currently using NI's S88 MK2, and the CP you incorporated in the patches is "Goldilocks" ...Not too hard, and not too soft, but just right. I'm able to trigger LFO at the perfect performance pressure point IMO.

I can't wait to try Purple Mist! :D

Thank you very much, I just laughed so hard Coffee spewed out of my mouth...
FathomSynth wrote: Wed Mar 13, 2019 2:56 pm My ultimate plan is as follows. At some point the model for Fathom's GUI will be a holographic screen in the cockpit of a spaceship approximately the year 2245. Because of the amount of information and safety issues such a UI would be incredibly clear and well designed, showing the relationship of very complex components such as engine function and potentially weapon systems. And yet with brilliant lighting effects to make things readable at night, in zero gravity and in emergency situations.
Now this sounds exciting! I hope you are serious! 8)
FathomSynth wrote: Wed Mar 13, 2019 2:56 pm However, my plan is later this year to create an "Elite" version of Fathom which provides full access to the interface. This would enable any user to completely re-skin Fathom.
Equally exciting news! Now that is something I look forward to! 8)

Just one big request ATM, no matter what new version of Fathom is released, please try to make all presets designed in older versions compatible with the newer versions, and vice versa. I understand backward/forward compatibility can sometimes be a problem.

8) AmbieticA, Yes, don't worry, I always make sure any changes to the engine keep all presets backwards compatable. I'm glad you like the spaceship holograph idea, yes I'm serious, it will take some work and the right UI designer, but that is my ultimate plan.

:borg: sbmongoose, Yes, GPU is looking amazing from my tests. In terms of pricing I will come up with something fair. I think Fathom Pro will have a GPU X factor of around 8 which will bring it in line with the fastest synths on the market such as Sylenth and Omnisphere, maybe even approximately double them. However, to get the full 1024 X factor I will probably reserve that for Fathom Elite.

Yes, I admit I was also initially skeptical about the latency issues of getting data from the CPU to the GPU, but I'm not seeing that in my testing. It seems pretty quick. Furthermore, much of the data such as the sin tables can be sent to the GPU once at bootup and then kept there without any transfer being necessary at run time. Also, keep in mind, game engine data is three dimensional, and audio data is one dimensional, and 3D game world latice data gets sent to the GPU without latency being an issue, so I would expect this to be even less of an issue for audio data. Furthermore, competitive gamers are probably even less likely to tolerate delay times than musicians. So from what I can tell so far any theory that CPU/GPU latency makes GPU processing unrealistic for audio just doesn't hold water.

Also, I'm starting with NVidia CUDA simply because it is so insanely easy to use and well designed. But as soon as I get done with that I will port the code to OpenCL so AMD video card owners and Mac users can enjoy the same boost.

:tu: ENV1, your points are well taken. I think we are probably more in agreement than you think, since I have always thought that most plugins are way over priced. To be honest, I would actually prefer to place all the extra capabilities in Fathom Pro and not mess with an Elite version. I'm only doing it out of pure necessity.

:phones: Folks, Scrubbing Monkeys has a brand new sound bank "Purple Mist". I just finished playing through all the presets and they are simply amazing! Some of the pads in this collection are masterpieces. For almost all the presets the mod wheel brings in an entirely new layer of sound, so the 50 presets are really more like a 100 in practice. Purple Mist will be going up on the web site tomorrow, so don't miss out on that.

Instant purchase! Grabbed it as soon as I saw it. Very nice bank! A lot of the pads remind me of Ensoniq Transwave Synthesis. My favorite pad being "The dark way home", which I already have a place for in a track I'm creating. And although some presets are labeled as Bass, I can't stop playing Lunar Scan likes it a lead! Awesome ModWheel transitions in these patches too!

I also think it's also cool that my purchase is going toward a great charity. I'm doing the same thing for the latest Soundset I released as well, only for a different charity. It's a great feeling when you can use your artistic talents to help a needed cause.

Awesome patches SM ...Keep 'em coming 8)

This is so cool, getting a CM mag cover is like a major stamp of approval for the industry. Next thing you'll be moving to Plugin Alliance and forcing current users to pay for a liscence transfer lol J.K

I did want to just recommend that I think one huge thing holding this synth back right now is the lack of Youtube videos on it. The only ones I know of are from Scrubbing Monkeys. Just a couple really solid videos showing off the presets and capabilities of this synth will do huge wonders for popularity. Nowadays people don't even think of wasting they're time with a demo before looking at a YT video to hear the synth and see it in action first.

Thank you very much,

Funny, Ensoniq keeps showing up here somehow. The developer used to work for them as well. There are some Ensoniq wavetables available for download on the fathom product page. https://www.kvraudio.com/product/fathom ... /downloads

I also find that most basses translate as leads as well. There is one patch I think I labelled bpl because I couldn't deside if it was a bass, lead or pad.

Something I probably should mention is that all works by Scrubbing Monkeys are done using 100% solar power.

Usually restoration projects like this are remote. This one is no exception. My wife and I started this project nearly 10 years ago. For the first year there was no power or water. We are still off grid, about an hour and a half from civilazation. but now have modest solar power and with the help of solar pumps we have running water.

I will share a short video soon with some sights from out here in the middle of nowhere.

A big congrats to you Everett,

Computer Music Mag is truly a big deal. I know you have poured your heart into Fathom and it is nice to see it grow.

I agree with soundPorn about the videos as well. I will do a demo on some presets this week.

I am sure with Fathom hitting CM mag. that some real talent will show up do some good videos. Or at least someone with a personality.

Scrubbing Monkeys - so cool with the 100 % solar powered patches! :tu: I'm actually writing a textbook on IT and sustainability and happen to have started an organisation for renewable energy for low-income countries, so it'll be great seeing your pics. :)

And oh - BPL! :D

Hey SM,

Not a correction - I just loved the reason for the name!

I'll PM you later today. In case you or someone else wants to look at the renewable energy project, the website is www.otecafrica.org.

The Montana preset is both a unique bass down low 8)
and a delightful solo synth brass up high

I think a genuine wilderness experience,
as well as a solid farm/ranch experiece
should be a mandatory part of public education.

Atchafalaya Houseboat is a documentary about
a couple's youthful off-grid experience
on a southern U.S. river, and their reunion
later in life, romance and realism well told.
If you can stream video sometimes,
it's part of the PBS catalog, which might be
an affordable subscription with other docs
of interest. Might even be worth a snailmail
dvd purchase.
Keep up the great work!
