I agree with these comments about menu auto-open. Personally my solution has been to set the time to the longest possible in preferences: helps to avoid the accidental opening when unwanted

Do you know that when a sub-menu auto opens you can immediately close it by clicking it again. If that's not good enough then you can practically disable that new auto open sub-menu option by setting the Open Sub-Menu Delay Time to the maximum.sl23 wrote: Wed Mar 20, 2019 11:07 pm Er everywhere with long menus. But my specific situation reoccurs when I try to add let's say, FX to a Rack.
How do other users feel about this new auto open sub-menu option? Is it a good? Or should it come disabled by default? (or maybe even removed if no one would find it useful)
Edit: Richard was even faster, thx for your feedback Richard.

I think it is a useful feature and it would be a shame to lose it. it can essentially be disabled already as mentioned above if required.mutools wrote: Wed Mar 20, 2019 11:18 pm How do other users feel about this new auto open sub-menu option? What I feel would be more useful however is the ability to use the keyboard left arrow at any point while scrolling down the contents of an open folder, to close that folder. At the moment you have to scroll back up to the folder icon to do this. This could really speed up the process of selecting presets.
I have also spotted what I think is a bug when keying in numeric values on a Mac (but not on a PC) in M8 (that did not occur in M7). I will write to you separately about this as it will need some explaining.

Tbh, I wished long ago you'd add this option, but it feels half done. Sorry, I realise you have higher priorities.
Well, yes I could disable it, or add longer delay. Longer delay just makes me wanna click it anyway as waiting for it to open is worse than having to click it in my opinion.
I believe it needs further work to be efficient. Though I expect you have your plans laid out so this will likely have to wait.
Like EvilDragon, I too dislike the clicking of menu items to open them, it's excessive when searching for an item. I'm happy using the menu system as that's what I'm used to in every other app I use, just the clicking to open subitems is abnormal and unnecessary imho. Would it require a lot of work to change the menu to behave as I described?
Btw, clicking to close isn't much help at times, as moving the cursor can open other subitems too whilst navigating to find the parent folder to close it! But I'll keep it in mind.
If I'm honest, the idea is good, needs work. But in its current state, it isn't really usable imho. That said, it would be a shame to lose the idea completely! It's great that you decided to give it a go, thanks for the effort.

I like the auto-open. I set the menu levels to zero and the delay very short (125ms) so when I open a menu it only shows the highest level and I can go straight to the command I need. My only micro-suggestion is to move DSP up a level because it's more important in this version.

Yeah, I agree with what was said above. I've set the time to the maximum because I was constantly expecting the auto-open submenus to auto-close as well.sl23 wrote: Wed Mar 20, 2019 11:59 pm Tbh, I wished long ago you'd add this option, but it feels half done. Just add an auto close delay time
What about the reverse of auto open. When you hover an item it auto opens. When you leave that item it auto closes?

I guess, auto-close won't work, as it would move the actual selected entry away from the mouse cursor. That's why (in Windows) additional submenus are folded out instead of expanding the actual one. That works.
The MuLab-solution doesn't work for me, I also set time to 5000 and click as I'm used to.

Auto-close on leaving an auto-opened sub-menu won't work as when you have auto-opened a sub-menu and move down to the first item in that sub-menu that would immediately close it then.
in the next version the default setting for "Open Sub-Menu Delay Time" is "Never". So the option to use it remains, but it's disabled by default.
Doing sub-menus the traditional way with side-windows that popup is not planned atm.
@Michael: Removing the DSP sub-grouping would make that menu much too long imho.
What i could evaluate is to make it possible to create a key shortcut to open a certain sub-menu. So eg [D] could be assigned to the Sample -> DSP sub-menu and upon pressing [D] a menu pops up with only that sub-group ie. only all Sample DSP functions. No promises yet, just popping the idea.

It's six of one, half dozen of another; IMHO there are more important features to spend your valuable time!mutools wrote: Thu Mar 21, 2019 9:05 amWhat i could evaluate is to make it possible to create a key shortcut to open a certain sub-menu.
