Chord generator: no option for 2 chords / bar?

Having two different chords in a bar is pretty common, but I don't see an option for this in Chord Generator. So it seems I either have to manually edit the midi in each bar (tedious especially with a large number of bars) or double the number of bars and the tempo and change from 4/4 to 2 / 4 time (which messes up the chord presets for different rhythmic patterns)?

The gui is also terrible if you want to input a long progression. It hides the middle chords with "..." and doesn't even let you see which is which by clicking on the chord. It would be so easy to make this usable, it's really aggravating.
It's also aggravating that C chords are placed below all other chords even when C is not the tonic, and there's no apparent option to change this without tedious manual editing. So much for saving time....

You can have several chords in the same bar and the chord changes don't have to happen at the bar lines. Just drag the end of the chord to the desired length.

Not quite sure what you mean, but you can change the chord inversion by shift clicking the up and down arrows at each chord. That way, you can get the C chord higher in pitch.Ou_Tis wrote: Thu Mar 21, 2019 5:52 pm It's also aggravating that C chords are placed below all other chords even when C is not the tonic, and there's no apparent option to change this without tedious manual editing. I'm not referring to inversions. For example, in the key of G, a C B A G progression has the C chord start at C3 and the B chord start at B3, almost an octave higher, which is a huge and jarring jump that would almost never be intended. The default should be based around the key. And the option to select the octave would be very helpful.Stuttaton wrote: Thu Mar 21, 2019 7:53 pmNot quite sure what you mean, but you can change the chord inversion by shift clicking the up and down arrows at each chord. How do you get the chord generator, in Pattern Generator, to place different chords inside the same bar? Or do you mean I should use the create chord option in midi editor instead? But the pattern generator is better because it provides the option of different rhythms and playing styles....

A fairly simple progression that took less than 5 minutes to input in Pattern Generator took more than 40 minutes using midi editor's "create chord" feature....

You can transpose each chord by clicking on the up and down arrows.
I don't see what your problem is. The normal way to keep the chord notes in the same range is to use inversions.
If all chords are in a too low range, you can use the octave setting in the pattern generator menu.
I use the chord generator to create chords for all my tunes. It's unbeatable, to try out chord changes and inversions to create a smooth and good sounding chord track. By looking at the generated notes, you can try out different chords to get sufficient voice-leading.

You drag the bar line in the chord track.Ou_Tis wrote: Thu Mar 21, 2019 8:04 pm How do you get the chord generator, in Pattern Generator, to place different chords inside the same bar? Or the bar line on the midi clip itself, if you're not using the chord track, for whatever reason.Stuttaton wrote: Fri Mar 22, 2019 8:04 amYou drag the bar line in the chord track.Ou_Tis wrote: Thu Mar 21, 2019 8:04 pm How do you get the chord generator, in Pattern Generator, to place different chords inside the same bar? Tbh, all the things you're complaining the software doesn't do, it does do, you just don't know how to do them.
It'd be a good idea to watch this video

Or read Chapter 45 in the manual, which explains how to do all the things you don't know how to do

Ah, the pattern generator window has to be open for these chord options to be displayed in midi editor. (The manual doesn't seem to explain that.) But the Waveform 10 pattern generator window is always on top and can't be moved?...chico.co.uk wrote: Fri Mar 22, 2019 10:20 amOr the bar line on the midi clip itself, if you're not using the chord track, for whatever reason.Stuttaton wrote: Fri Mar 22, 2019 8:04 amYou drag the bar line in the chord track.Ou_Tis wrote: Thu Mar 21, 2019 8:04 pm How do you get the chord generator, in Pattern Generator, to place different chords inside the same bar?
