Look at at this way: You sit in front of a PC, stare at your screen where a twodimensional minature synth screams to your brain that it is fake. You click its key with your mouse, which screams to your brain that you are not playing a synth, further it feels (or smells for that matter, think minilogue) not like a real synth, and yet, having biased the brain so much already, you are going tell it that the wanna-be-synth-code-ish sound you get from it is equal or superior to everything the softsynth want to be but isn’t? Come on, maaaan...

An idiot on Set Theory:

Why will software people not admit hardware sounds better?IncarnateX wrote: Sat Mar 23, 2019 12:15 pm ....I often wonder? I mean, it is not like software does not have benefits, such as portability, instant DAW integration and several thousand presets for you to try out on every midi track you lay down, Thus, there are benefits using software but deep down inside you know that sound is not one of them, so why keep pretending? Lots of flamewars could have been avoided if the software people at least would admit that, but they do not.
Why, why, why? Question is killing me, so plz enlighten me.
Thanks in advanceAny opinion will be appreciated as far as it complies with my own. Rest is bull by default.

Because it's simply false. Some HW sound crap, and some SW sound crap. Some SW sound good, and some HW sound good.
So the grey zone is strictly comparable instruments like real HW, and their emulations counterparts right ?
And here again the answer is simple : They are more/less different. They have different merits. At least the different merits different people usually affect to sw/hw. And sometimes a bit more.
Yes, it's that simple.

1. Usually you are not
2. Then you are using an empty identityless holster that screams to your brain that it is not a synth either, e.g. it does not feel different to control synth a compared to synth b from it, and there are no labels attached to its controls because the functions are relative.
