Q: Understanding the Dry/Wet control

Given a Dry signal level of -6 dB and a Wet signal level of -6 dB, what levels (Dry, Wet and Mixed output) are produced by these settings of the Dry/Wet control?


That is: how does the % value affect the levels of the Dry and Wet input signals that are combined?

Depends on the plugin . In some cases it is linear, other times it sincos combination etc.

OK, thank you. So, for the simple, linear ones:

0% = 100% Dry (-6 dB), 0% Wet (silence)
25% = 75% Dry (-8.52 dB), 25% Wet (-18.06)
50% = 50% Dry (-12 dB), 50% Wet (-12 dB)
75% = 25% Dry (-18.06 dB), 75% Wet (-8.52 dB)
100% = 0% Dry (silence), 0% Wet (- 6dB)

And, in all cases, the Dry and Wet levels sum to -6dB.

I don't follow, why would 0% make dry -6dB?? It would be 0dB, wet -inf. Summing to -6dB makes no sense whatsoever.

Because, in my thought experiment, both Dry and Wet were at -6dB
