Should MSpectralDynamics have a Ratio graph?

Would anyone find use in MSpectralDynamics having a ratio graph, in the same way it has a threshold graph? Currently it has graphs for Threshold, Attak, Release and EQ, but not ratio.

This way, you could, say, compress bass or highs more/less. I also wonder what would happen if the capture mechanic applied the frequency spectrum onto the ratio graph... so the ratio would increase with the average louder frequencies.

Just asking to see if others would find this useful.

Thanks!

Interesting, but isn't Spectral Dynamics is already super-tweakable for compressing certain frequencies more than others? Especially since you can draw in compression by frequency, on top of having 2 processors.
However, I can't say that I'm not at least a bit intrigued by the idea. On top of that, I am far from really mastering all that the plugin can do.
I'm glad you posted, in any event, because you reminded me that I want to experiment with Spectral Dynamics on a few instruments. :phones: :phones:

It totally can compress certain frequencies differently, but as explained above, only attack, release and threshold are frequency settable. With a ratio control, you could get greater control over different frequencies. Currently the ratio setting is global across all frequencies.

Interesting idea!…

True, and I do get that. But first, while it doesn't have a graph for ratio, there are two processors, each with its own ratio for whatever curve is drawn. Between that and everything else, there's tons of flexibility. * Not that I don't like the idea of a ratio graph...even more tweakability...and who would say "no" to more?
However, I wonder how much more processing power that would take. I mean, we're talking about a huge number of ratios that would be added, making calculations way more complex (just a guess!)
Still, cool idea, if it can be done :tu:

Thinking about this more, now I remember somebody posting recently, asking for MSpectral Dynamics-Multiband. And all of the MB versions of Melda plugins have 6 frequency bands, which sounds manageable (to a non-programmer like me).
I would love it if there was a ratio graph, but if that's not feasible, maybe multiband would be.
Let's see what Vojtek says!

Sorry, no can do. Let's just say it doesn't work the way you probably think :).
