Yes, NastyDLA is excellent, it's the one I've been using for years. I still use it (thanks JBridge) sometimes...jens wrote: Tue Apr 02, 2019 7:12 amFair enough, but personally I am really super glad that you were totally off with your expectation as I would have absolutely zero interest in that.DJErmac wrote: Sun Mar 31, 2019 1:02 am I think I expected a complex multitap (because I thought they would make it as different as possible from Valhalla Ubermod to avoid any overlap). I love to apply a distorsion to the first tap, then a reverb to the second one, a filter to the third one... But this is not a complex multitap : I'm out, so nevermind my opinion.
What I am looking for is much rather something that would finally fill the void that VOS NastlyDLA left and this new Valhalla delay seems like it could fit the bill.
The closest so far is perhaps Boz' Imperial Delay, and that's way off.

That's a nasty delay of some presumably not nasty delay, lol
Weapons of choice (subject to change):

Ooops....!Lesha wrote: Tue Apr 02, 2019 10:03 am Too bad this delay does not have ducking, NastyDLA had it more than 8 years ago.
Another good delay is Imposcar (can be used as effect), and it has both ducking and gating. Getting nostalgic right now, haven't used it for years. One of the few delays I liked.

What do you guys think? Go for echoboy or wait for Valhalla?

Valhalla will probably sound better, and more close to the hardware modelled.
Echoboy has more tweakable character and more modulation/delay possibilites.
Vallhalla Delay will sit between Echoboy and d16 Repeater function wise.
I've tested Echoboy against Repeater and Repeater won sound wise, but it has a very limited function/modulation set.
I also think that it won't be the last sale for Echoboy, so you still can decide later on.

Echoboy for sure. There is a reason that it is arguably the most loved delay plugin of all time.
Last time it was $49 was a year ago I believe. Black Friday was $79 I think.

Soundtoys products bought on the discounts (eg Black Friday) are a gateway to the full set if you are interested. That's a pretty good deal on Echoboy - but not unprecedented. Despite owning it, my interest in what Sean has cooked up remains undimmed.

Ilok, no thanks.
Btw this thread is about Valhalla Delay, and it's not for marketing of other overrated and overpriced products.

I'm sorely tempted by Echoboy as I've been waiting and waiting for a 2nd delay (I have Tekturon as part of the Silverline package and it has definite strengths)... but my resolve remains firm. Vallhalla Delay as soon as it's available!
I can always get Echoboy way out at BF. Whatever.

What can it do that Echoboy cannot?

BYOME now $49 as well just to further add to your purchase dilemmas - suffice to say almost endless delay options togeather with other stuff.
Excalibur multi fx also has good delays and on sale for 109 at izotope.
‘‘Tis the season for fx and delays!
