Michael`s newsletter is woolly, wrapped in a flowery language ...
What I`m able to comprehend so far,
the entire EA business was too much for a one man show
and he wants to focus on new releases, iZotope (with broader customer base) does the rest.
Sounds like a fusion to me with some ding dong who knows contract.
I`m not a Meester in reading out flowery language, feel free to correct me.
The phoenix>nimbus story affronted me as well to take a more distanced attitude to EA,
think I`ll stay there a bit longer and watch what happens along with iZoptope.

The R2 —> R4 transition w/ no actual upgrade path left me a bit dismayed with Exponential.

He sold his entire product line and is now at Izotope as a research fellow. Sounds like semi-retirement to me.Omkar wrote: Thu Apr 04, 2019 5:54 am Michael`s newsletter is woolly, wrapped in a flowery language ...

And where exactly is that written?v1o wrote: Thu Apr 04, 2019 11:13 am He sold his entire product line and is now at Izotope as a research fellow.
Seriously, i know that speculations are very modern and hip these days, but, i'd really wait for something substantial and real. So far, all we know is that he joined iZotope, and his products are still up, even remaining under the same brand name. Which should really tell you that he didn't just "sell his entire product line, and joins as a research fellow".

A BIG ANNOUNCEMENT with a tiny font.
What-ever.I’ve had some great partners who have helped me grow. There isn’t enough space here to thank all of the new friends I’ve made along the way.

Can someone clarify for me - earlier in the thread I understood that Nimbus is the successor to PhoenixVerb, and that it has all the presets of PhoenixVerb - is there any point in owning PhoenixVerb AND Nimbus?
They're both part of the Stereo Reverb Bundle, so not sure if the bundle is 4 unique reverbs, or 3 unique reverbs and the predecessor to one of them.

If you have Nimbus, no you don't need PhoenixVerb:
Does NIMBUS sound like PhoenixVerb, just with more parameters?
Yes. It sounds exactly like PhoenixVerb, but only if you haven't used any of the new parameters. All of the PhoenixVerb presets have been imported into NIMBUS.

Which is why it needed a decent upgrade path from Phoenixverb, and still does (I would have liked to get Nimbus but refuse to pay the cost of Phoenixverb + more money again - especially since they also vastly deprecated the resale value of Phoenixverb).mcbpete wrote: Thu Apr 04, 2019 1:54 pm If you have Nimbus, no you don't need PhoenixVerb:

If I could buy the bundle at a reasonable price I still would just to get it.

Yes, the GUI is not the most attractive to look at, but the reverbs sound really good

I have not caught up with this thread but at least he didin't do a Camel...Right?
Everyone will still be able to use his stuff I mean, just for a different company...
If anything he will have more resources to work with and make his products better.

It says so in the Izotope email that went out to customers:chk071 wrote: Thu Apr 04, 2019 11:16 amAnd where exactly is that written?v1o wrote: Thu Apr 04, 2019 11:13 am He sold his entire product line and is now at Izotope as a research fellow.

“Exponential Audio founder and renowned reverb expert Michael Carnes is joining the iZotope team as a Research Fellow to continue innovating new possibilities for the future of reverb.”
Edit:
next bit confirming they bought the products :
“We are excited to announce that we've acquired the Exponential Audio product line”

It'll be interesting to see how much of the reverb effects that everyone here seems to like from EA, are implemented across the various Izotope apps. I actually think Iris 2 has some great effects, which I believe come from their various products, so I suspect the reverbs will be included in their next synths. Admittedly I haven't used Iris as much as I meant to as it often does more than I really need and I use the sampler in Renoise more lately for the sample commands.

Well, that's a mighty good move then from iZotope.
