Since my switch to 64bit, I have missed some, not many, FX. The most interesting is the Tape Stop and Slower VST's. Is this sort of thing possible within MuX?

What about with the Time Stretching function in M8? Does that in anyway make it possible?

Maybe this isn't quite what you're looking for, but you can get the tape stop effect pretty easy with a MuSampla. Just automate the pitch and maybe the volume down at the same time. Hope that helps.

Oh wow! Didn't realise it was so simple. I'll give that a try when I get a chance. Thank you :tu:

There's this one by Vengeance Sound:

I can't speak to how good it is as I've never tried it. It's price is a little steep at $55. Also note that it requires a physical Syncrosoft / eLicenser dongle.

Thanks Russell, I knew of this one. Three reasons I won't use it...
1. Not portable, ie has to be installed, can't just place files into any desired dir.
2. Not free! I won't pay for VST's. If there isn't a free version, I go without.
3. Never in a million years would I buy something that requires a dongle!!! Gotta be the most stupidest idea! Once I plug a HDD into my laptop and a controller I have no ports left!

I appreciate your goodwill though :tu:

I'm just attempting to create a MuX Tape Stop. I encountered an omission I think.
In the MuX Presets in the Browser, there is a Pitch Shifter. However, I just want the module, so I looked in the MuX Modules via the Browser and via R-clicking the MuX Modular window and the Pitch Shifter (Mono) Module used within the PS Preset is nowhere to be found! At least, I can't seem to locate it.

I managed to copy and paste the module so no problem there. It's just that it should surely appear in the list of MuX Modules shouldn't it?

I use Tapestop, which, BTW, is still THE tapestop plugin - why don´t you use it via jBridge, as I do?
I have a couple of other tapestop plugins, but unfortunately none of those have both slow-stop and slow-start feature, as the Tapestop has.

Post

I have the plugin and I have Slower.vst too. I don't want to use anything that isn't portable. Jbridge isn't portable, it has to be installed.

Thanks anyway.

?
Think a rather strange way to define ”portable”. How the jBridge is less portable than e.g. the Tapestop itself?

Post

I tried jbridge years ago tried to make it portable, ie non-reliant on system folder installation. It looks in the system folders for files in order to use the bridge plugins. Tapestop is a single .dll file that can be placed anywhere

Post

So, ”portable” means in your vocabulary ”system folder indipendent”. I can’t imagine, why that’s relevant.
Sounds hard life to me.
If you have to change your computer, maybe every 3 year, you have to re-install things anyway.

I've made something akin to the Tapestop effect that is manual instead of auto induced at the push of a button.

I'm having trouble with the volume though. As the volume decreases with the pitch, the effect becomes less audible. So I have to have the volume reduce only to about -20db in order for the effect to sound good. Only trouble is, that when the Single knob used for the effect is turned to minimum, there is still audible low frequencies. I tried the MuX Audio Gate, but it creates severe clicking at the point the gate starts to work.

Any advice here would be greatly appreciated ;)

Because in order to keep your system running at top speed it's recommended to reinstall windows every so often depending how often it's used. This means reinstalling anything and everything that doesn't come with your PC, which means you have to reinstall it, set it up how you like it, recall all the settings you had so that you don't screw up any projects or other apps, etc, etc.

Also, it makes backups easier. Only having to copy folders where you know exactly where everything is.

On top of that, every app you install creates slowdown for your system, with extra startup entries being added, some can be disabled others aren't so clear as to what their function is or whether they're system files or not.

So, for over ten years I have sought to rid myself of installed software. Only thing I install are drivers. Absolutely everything I use is portable.

It makes life easier. You don't have to reinstall anything, EVER!!! Because if you buy a new PC, you simply copy and paste all your apps to a HDD or whatever and plug into the new one paste them onto the new PC and everything is exactly the same as it was on the old PC. How does that make it more difficult?

I understand all your reasons, sl23. :hihi:

I wish I had a better recommendation for you, but unfortunately the best free tape stop effect, tBt's Tape Stop http://www.vstplanet.com/News/14/Tape-S ... lug-in.htm is 32bit only. :(

Good luck finding a free 64bit tape stop effect! :D

Post

I know, it's a great and unique effect! Perhaps I'll have to use it with MuLab x32 when I wish to use it. Was hoping to avoid 32 bit, but seems impossible!

Thank you for you time ;)
