As a customer, you are 100% responsible for what you buy, and also, on what you get hooked or not. I think this kind of thinking is even dangerous, because you're willingly turning yourself into a slave of commerce, without any need to do so. Although, in the end, a lot of stuff which i read here on a daily base somehow suddenly makes sense.

Don't be a slave though, please (or a victim). Be responsible for your own actions. Noone is to blame but yourself, with this kind of weak-willed attitude.
100% dead on the money. I have zero desire to buy or even demo this thing. I'm not even going to listen to any of the videos. In fact, I will NEVER hear what this thing sounds like EVER.

Nobody controls my buying behavior but me.

Will test if i really need it over something like Noisemaker as i've never tried a SEM before- be it hard- or software. Though i was always lusting for an AS Telemark after hearing demos on Youtube.
Though Bazille does “standard analog-ish sounds“ fair enough as far as i'm concerned, despite being “unashamedly digital“ (or something like that)
Well the Arturia SEM was ~$19 for me as part of the V-Collection. As it's one of their more recent synths, it actually sounds really good. For such a simple architecture, $150 is pretty expensive. This would have to be something very special to be worth it for me.
Take a single oscillator, producing a drone. Send it to the wave shaper, altering the tone.
This can be a triangle, Sawtooth or a square. Modulate the pulse width, nobody will care

I'm shocked. Are you guys really such consumption whores that you can't decide yourself to buy something or not?

And, yes, that's a deliberately provocative question. I really :dog: at the moment.

Exactly. Really can't believe people blame consumerism for their actions.

Yes, Arturia SEM is certainly an alternative. Still one of my favorites from Arturia.

It is indeed worryingly nihilistic - If I think it's shite and/or overpriced, demo or otherwise I'm not going to get it ....

I‘m on the road this week and can‘t try this one, but I read the manual and there are a couple of interesting features build into this synth.
Has anyone already checked the Oberhausen in real and has some insights to share?

Arturia uses Ilok as far as i know, so they don't even exist for me
There's also completely awesome stuff for free, like Tyrell, Surge, or Noisemaker.
I personally don't need “exactly this, or that synth“, they just have to sound good to me.
Still, if this one convinces me over the free stuff available, i have no qualms at all shelling out 150 bucks for this. Though if i'll happen to prefer it, I won't be buying it because it a SEM in this case, only because it's sound suited me better or adds more to what i already have.
The GAS is always greener on the other side!

Yeah obviously. Because we all need 100 synths to be able to function right (like food and sleep).

Isn't the point. Action X doesn't make hypothesis Y true. But by all means, proceed to think you know what I'm thinking when I do anything.
