I'm probably going to bite on this, but what are peoples thoughts on the Arturia Pres and compressors? Currently you can pick up all three bundles, filters, pres and compressors for $99 roughly if you're logged into your Arturia account.

I already own too many compressors, but the preamps seem like useful tools for quickly fattening and EQ sculpting a mix. Filter toys are always good.

Is this sale a good one for a foreseeable future, or can we expect something better later this year or so? (like black Friday)
The Crossgrade from iZotope is actually a temporary product. After this sale is over, it will go away. I'm sure there will be other sales now that they are an iZotope company but I doubt any will be very much better than the Crossgrade from iZotope.
Hi Eric, How long is the sale on for?
Thanks

Love it.

Has anyone tried this? Is it as good as it looks?
Atlas lets you throw an entire disk of samples at it without bothering to categorize them, and then randomize drum kits, and you will (mostly) get what you ask for (kicks in the kick slot, snares in the snare slot, perc in the perc slot(s), e.g.) It does more than this, of course, but that's imho its best feature.

if that's something that you find useful, it's magic. If it doesn't fit the way you work (e.g. you usually custom-design exactly the drums you want) then it might not be useful, but as a mostly casual musician, it's at least loads of fun and you might find some samples in your collection you forgot about/never listened to.
I am going to check Atlas against the new XLN Audio XO.

Ironically, these are 3 preamps I actually do not use.

There is a lot of discussion about GAS these days and I can honestly say that I never regretted any purchase. But I have to admit these plugins have been on the more useless end of things. That does not mean they are bad, there are just so many options out there.

They look very pretty and feel fun to use (looks as if you have that outboard gear, feels like you own one shallow as that may be) but you gotta actually ask yourself if you need more toys in your already cluttered box. There's only so many things you can fit. You can easily demo these, so best to test them side by side with pre sound/eq you already go to for that kind of job. If they shine (careful the visuals may cloud judgement) then great, you know they're good for you. If they barely make a difference compared to what you have you've saved $99 that can now be used towards the next GAS hunt :phones:

^ What he said. Exactly what I've been thinking. And I can get them from Arturia for $50 for all three. But honestly, their naming of these is actually really bad marketing strategy on their part as it causes the customer to actually think about whether or not they'll use them. Most plugins we buy get little use considering the sheer quantity of plugins we own already. This is just 'more'. In fact, their demo video of these makes them sound just like every other compressor plugin I already own from Waves and IK and others.

I see a fair bit of waves account takeovers for sale. And I can understand why because the combo of transfer fee and low sale prices makes selling pretty hard. Can you change the owner of an account or is that infact an invalid license until you transfer it to your own account?

There's a sale for $99 for all 9 plug ins they make, 3 filters, compressors and preamps. It's tempting for sure, I downloaded all the demos, and I'll be doing exactly what is suggested. I already own a lot of good PSP compressors and "color" EQ's from Nomad etc. so it's really a matter of whether I will "actually use" them. The GUIs are a factor, they're huge, and this is a great advantage as my main monitor is a 27" touch Raven, so it's much more pleasant to use a big GUI, skeuomorphic designs notwithstanding.

Is the Eventide Blackhole flash sale only going to be on Eventide's website, or will it be extended to 3rd party vendors?...

I asked. Eventide’s head of sales is on vacation for the next two weeks so I might not hear back before the sale ends.

$29 is a very nice price anyway though… i'd definitely get it for that price, if i didn't have it already. No-brainer.

Yeah - if you don't have Blackhole already, get it now.

I'm hoping they do MangleVerb for the same sale price next.

Assumed the flash sale was in honor of the first (composite) photograph of (the "shadow" of) a blackhole being released?

Don't know what the equivalent would be for "Mangled"....

Between Byome, Xenoverb, and Echoboy I could probably get similar effects (I guess?). Worst case scenario, if I end up not wanting to use it, trying to resell it with the $25 license transfer fee, the usual holiday sale price seems to be $49, $25 + $29 = $54 > $49... so recoup of full expenditure doesn't seem certain.

Nah, there's nothing else like Blackhole once you start playing with the hotswitch. On the other hand it's most useful for ambient style pieces and I don't use it all that much. But when I know it's perfect for the job nothing else beats it.

There's a generous 14-day demo, try it.

Would of grabbed black hole but MTurboReverb has all bases covered :-)
