Not sure if anything's changed since your post, but Blue Cat Oscilloscope Multi is currently on sale for $29 USD on Reverb (but they show the regular price as $59 which is kinda weird, since as you say, it's $49 on the Blue Cat website and everywhere else I've checked). Also, you need to add the item to your cart to see the sale price.

If you see a different price on Reverb, your site settings might be different (you can look at the bottom of the page on the right side). By default, Reverb will try to show you local currency based on your IP address, or if you have a profile and are logged in, the country and currency you have set in your profile.

Oh, didn't see the discount you get when you put it in your cart.

I thought it was illegal for a developer to prohibit license transfers. How does Blue Cat get away with it?

I purchased the Blue Cat Audio All Plug-Ins Pack from Reverb when it was available. I received a serial number instantly which I registered with Blue Cat Audio and received the complete set of plugins, so it was a legitimate serial number. In other words, it wasn't a second hand license.

I'm not sure about the second hand license policy being illegal (I don't live in Europe so it wouldn't apply to me unfortunately).

If a EULA is supposed to be illegal, a court has to check the legality of it. Which means you'd have to sue Blue Cat Audio to find out whether what they do is illegal or not.

Apart from that, every company making their licenses NFR after the first resale would have to be illegal as well. My point of view: Don't mess around with it. Read the EULA's, act responsibly, and buy when you don't mind the resale policy, and don't buy if you don't. That way you will not only do the right thing for yourself, but, you also won't be an annoying self entitled pr*** (sorry ;)). Additional bonus: You won't be seen as a pretentious hobby lawyer as well.

The Seven Samurai set is a first version DX7 and is a good choice if you want to exactly re-create sounds from 80’s records. The 4op stock set is a TX81Z with a Lately Bass patch that has every note sampled in the most important octaves. The 4op custom set is the furthest away from typical DX sounds, I personally think it’s the most interesting sounding but it’s not a good choice if you’re looking for classic sounds. The DX Aliased Orchestra is a DX7s with a strange aliasing problem and I only recommend it if you’re specifically looking for noisy, lo-fi sounds.

For me the confusion was simply that the SN was next to the license key on the same line in the email. When I read it I just mistakenly saw one long SN and no license key.

Great price for an excellent reverb!
