There'll be a video for that as well.MorpherX wrote: Fri Apr 12, 2019 6:17 pm I still dont see what Function 1 / 2 does and to what it belongs to inside the Mod-Tool.
Just note that it's inspired by "Maths", which is the pretty much the most greatest Eurorack module of all times ever.
(well, this video starts with mixing and attenuverting, all of which are already part of Hive anyway, the real stuff happens with the following, enveloping and gates)

This has probably been answered, but then I missed it:
When Hive 2 comes, Hive as we know it (1.2) will be gone, right? Replaced?
Or will they appear as 2 different vsts, like Repro-1 and Repro-5?
My reason for asking:
What' presented here is jawdroppingly cool. I love it!
Still it's a rather advanced synth that's coming, there are lots to learn and understand. Kind of a "read the manual"- synth like Bazille (which is my favourite synth, so I have nothing against those).
Still I think one of the great features with Hive 1 is that it's fairly easy to get. Intuitive. It's a great beginner synth, in my opinion. Powerful, but you'll learn the powers along the way.
I would so much like to have them both.

It will replace 1.2, yes.

Just ignore the new mod strip with the function generators and shape envelopes and it is the same synth as 1.2... except that modulation is faster and with better visual clarity than before... and the mod matrix GUI now has visuals for the matrix modifiers which is a workflow improvement as well.

I get your concern, but trust me, it's more of a new and improved skin. The only thing which needs some time getting to know is the narrow strip of modulations between LFOs/Envs/Hexagon and bottom panel. 3 knobs on each side, a few drop downs and the little assembly of shapes and blinkenlights.krans wrote: Fri Apr 12, 2019 7:15 pm This has probably been answered, but then I missed it:

The whole drag-a-modulation-and-edit-right-there is fully optional. There is no need to use it. But once you start using it, you will never want to come back. I promise!
All of it, really, is designed with the people in mind who love Hive for its quick workflow. IMHO it's gotten quicker.
How often have we heard things like "I wish there were another two LFOs", "another envelope", "MSEGs", "some kind of intelligent chaos", "drawable LFOs"! - All of these were valid requests. But they are also very narrow concepts. Some of these tend to dominate how a synth is used. They are furthermore not complementing Hive's existing concepts, they are competing with them. Why keep simple envelopes, simple LFOs and a simple sequencer when there's drawable LFOs and complex envelopes? It wouldn't be Hive anymore.
These new things don't do that. They're open concepts and they greatly integrate with Hive's LFOs, envelopes and sequencer. You can waste them for little tasks or you can build whole patches around them - but it's also totally fine to simply ignore them. There's no being afraid of being overwhelmed or getting lost. Instead, I think there's gamification and playfulness.
I think, the new stuff doesn't make Hive more difficult to use. To the contrary, it adds a new dimension of fun.

The best is to offer a well written manual especially around the new Mod-Tool and Function 1/2.Urs wrote: Fri Apr 12, 2019 8:25 pmI get your concern, but trust me, it's more of a new and improved skin. Then a user can read and learn without rush these functionality.
I hope there will be a "save/load" function for the shapes which also stores the "shape elements used the Shapes 1-4.

Yeah the only problem is people don't read manuals these days. They expect to magically know everything about anything through visual osmosis.

The new filter area caught my attention. Why the large space? Both vids show bypassed, so nothing to see. Yet, the size of the area suggests visual feeback, control or both?

Simple ... Just take the manual (print it), place it on your nightstand before bed; fill a glass of water and place it on top of the manual. Then when you wake up, drink the glass of water. The vids were done almost a month ago. Much has changed since, I would not have posted them without the current screenshot as reference.lunardigs wrote: Fri Apr 12, 2019 9:07 pm The new filter area caught my attention. Look great, can't wait!
Urs, a simple request. Could you add "midi note learn" to the next preset and previous preset buttons? This makes it so much nicer when previewing sounds. Omnisphere allows this, and it's really useful.
Thanks!
