Can I drive the follower by feeding the plugin midi notes?

I haven't been having a lot of luck with the follower following side chain audio.

Basically I want to modulate the frequency of one of the bands directly using midi notes from another track in my DAW

I'm using Bitwig 2.5 and it allows me to route audio or midi rectly to a plugin.

The Modulator / Follower responds to audio level only. as far as I know.

Yeah pitch modulation with midi. Perfect.

Doesn't support MPE but cant have it all.
