Is there a way to vary the pitch of a snare within a loop, in maybe not a so predictable way, by means of a modulation perhaps ? The alternative would be to actually have a full song laid out and then manually modifying snare hits here and there although I'd like to know if there's more of a 'global' way of doing that within the context of a repeating loop.

Cheers.

There are actually a few way to do this. I beleive this happens automatically if you adjust the variation(I forgot the actual name) setting for the drum. Another way to do it is adjusting the pitch of the drum in the rhythm editor. If this isn't enough and you need it to be more random, so the same pitch doesn't happen each time the loop repeats, copy your loop box(I believe that's the term) 3-8 times and then for each copy adjust the pitch however you want, so no copy is exactly the same. Then in your DAW midi editor set the velocity for your note(the one that triggers the loop) to zero. Zero velocity will cause MD to randomly choose a loop for the loopbox. One more way to do it would be to copy and paste snare layers. Adjust to pitch of each layer to suit your needs and then set the layers to be triggered randomly.

I'm sorry if that is a bit confusing, but I hope one of those methods will work for you.
