I find the import samples feature in Mellotron V really great and a short test gave me already very nice results but would you mind to explain the reasons behind:
1. Limiting the user samples to 8 per track?
2. Fixing a minimum mapping range of 3 semitones per sample?
This limitation does not allow one sample per semitone as the original Mellotron Tapes.
+1

Plus a way to change the tape 'wear/ageing/degradation' to make it sound from brand new to 50 years old for example.

And for the sake of realism, I know I might want too much now, am I wrong to think that the controls on top (Flutter, Tape Saturation, etc) should be applied to each sample separately instead of globally?

Will Arturia be offering an fx version of Synthi? That's a huge part of what a Synthi is good for IMO.
That's not in our short term plan but who knows :)
That's a shame, because it really would be a great fx processor. Spring reverb, great filter, ring mod, feedback, insane modulation options...

Great idea! That would definitely influence my decision to purchase as XILS, Plugin Boutique and Gforce cover pretty much my basic needs for Synthi, CZ and Mellotron type sounds.

Post

Nice synths for a fair price. I like the Mellotron and the Synthi. Xils has more inherent character for me but I like the added functions in the Arturia one which widen the scope quite a bit. The CZ leaves me pretty cold.

Anyone can assess how the Mellotron compares to the Gforce Mtron Pro?

There's a similar topic at Gearslutz you might want to read.

Well, I suspect the synths probably are worth $66 bucks each 'if' you were going to buy all 3 of them anyway.....the problem (if you can call it a problem) for all of us V6 owners is we know that all we have to do is wait a few months and it will be $99 which pushes it to a much sweeter deal.
While I am NOT complaining AT ALL - as they can ask whatever they want for their products - that is entirely their decision to make - you can not really calculate it like that. I, for instance, am solely interested in the Mellotron emulation - if I upgrade, I will probably NEVER use the CZ and the EMS emulation and I certainly wouldn't think of purchasing them. "$66 bucks each" is only true if you would want to purchase all three anyway. And that is why for me personally 199$ is WAY too much. At 99$ I might bite but then part of my motivation would be my goodwill to support them - but again, I am not complaining, as I have zero entitlement.

P.s.: and hence I think their business strategy makes a lot of sense. Get those really wanting all the new stuff first, then later try to catch those who aren't willing to pay that much.

I'm guessing this is the one:

I'm adding it here so others who are interested can take a look as well.

OK, here is a comparison of the flutes playing the Strawberry Fields Intro:

Mellotron V

M-Tron Pro

Note: Both sound quite good to me. I guess that the choice has to be made taking into consideration the added features of each one, since by the Mellotron sounds alone, both perform a great job.

Well, to my ears, the Mellotron V sounds ghastly. All those artifacts. Even I can hear them with my bad ears.

M-Tron Pro is still the king just based on that example alone.

Well, if you can't hear them there is no way I can make you hear them. I grew up listening to the Mellotron.

I think we have more or less the same age, and unless you have played a "real" Mellotron before (which I never did), our experience has to be more or less the same. So, try to explain exactly what you hear. "Ghastly" is an adjective too strong for the effect to not be easily perceptible

I'm not going down this road with you because past experience in any discussion we've had has this ending with pages of back and forth that I simply have no time for.

Both of them sound too nice to me. When I listen to the Moody Blues Tuesday for example there is a great presence to the sound that I think is missing.

Strawberry Hills is hard to compare since I think the original recording is slowed down in its master.

They both sound nice to me. To my ears, the Mellotron sounds more muffled but also with less noise.
