Hi folks, the Input gain and Output gain is there in many places. Why I cannot rename these fully for backwards compatibility, I can change the name on the plugin GUI. The current names are rather big and unnecessary complex. I know, it's a small thing, but the devil is in the detail 8)

I voted to keep it the same, but only because I don't understand the problem you are trying to solve. It's it because the long name makes it difficult to make a compact UI? Are you having problems reducing the UI size and this is a limit you are hitting?

Yes, it's part of it. For instance, if you have a row of knobs containing Input gain, Dry/wet, Slope, then all of the knobs must be as big as the Input gain one, to make it look good, so...
I mean it's not a big deal, but I thought it is worth thinking about.

Ah, in that case, I'd be happy to have it reduced to Input/Output... sorry, I can't revote :)

I voted for "Gain In/Gain Out", because it's more compact than the first option, only a bit longer than the second one, but still specifies Gain.
"Gain", if not specified, might still be obvious to some, but maybe not for others...especially since Melda plugins have so many features.

I second the last poster. :)

Any of them are fine for me. If it makes things look better feel free to change it. I think all of them are understandable.

This may come off as elitist, but if someone sees a knob toward the left-hand side of a plug-in labeled "Input" and can't work out that it controls the input level, Meldaproduction products might not be the best match for their needs in the first place.

They might do better, at least while they're learning, with those Waves ones that are just one big knob.

Seriously, either Gain In or Input will probably get the job done. I hope they don't split the "go ahead and change it" vote.

Post

Hehe ok, Input & Output it is. It is good since it is like Input gain without gain :)

Aww man. I gave this some more thought. I was thinking that this one might be more clear:

Hmmm, I'[m completely lost. What exactly are you trying to say with that? :D

New update that released today (RC2) contains the change.

So they implemented my button?! Cool! Now I have to download it! :P

I like sirmonkey's mock-up, but I also want that exact wording for the automation parameters. It would make setting up automation even more exciting.

Still, I'm glad that Vojtec is going with "Input."

An issue I didn't think of with "Gain In" and "Gain Out" is that someone could think that the big round things at each side are pushbuttons for switching the "Gain" function in and out, like on an amp sim.

Then you'd get reviews like this:

"Melda Productions Free Bundle v.13

I've never liked Melda Productions. I think their graphics are ugly. Mixing plug-ins should look like either battered vintage gear or psychedelic light shows. That's what makes mixing exciting. This new version said that the UI was improved, but it looks just as boring. Their FX still all look the same, so how are you supposed to know if you're using a gate or a reverb or a compressor?

Worse, most of them have this big fat bug: when you click on the 'Gain In' and 'Gain Out' buttons they don't switch Gain in and out. They don't do anything. I even slipped once with the mouse and it changed the volume. Doesn't Melda Productions even test? Lame.

Bottom line: It's free. You get what you pay for. Instead, check out those Waves plug-ins that are just one big knob. They're on sale."

Ha! Just for kicks, I checked out the link to the "One Knob" series. There are 8 plugs, totaling about $240.00 if you bought them all.

Geeez, you can do everything that all those $29 and $39 plugins do with the Melda Free Bundle, and much more, and with much more flexibility. But those knobs sure look fancy!
