Just tried this in Ableton Live I can easily automate every parameter of Kontour. And no, I'm not using Komplete Kontrol, this is Reaktor 6 VST loaded directly into Ableton Live and manually loaded the Kontour ensemble in it.pdxindy wrote: Fri May 03, 2019 4:04 pm If I want to use Kontour, Bitwig's modulation system doesn't work with it. Massive X is due next month.Hemmick Reef wrote: Fri May 03, 2019 12:32 pm Is this a sort of simple pre-runner to Massive X to test the waters?
What does this have in common with Massive X?

It's Bitwig's fault if you can't rename a device to suit yourself.pdxindy wrote: Fri May 03, 2019 4:04 pmDown in the Devices pane, the Bitwig shell only says Reaktor 6 so if the GUI is closed, I don't know which ensemble is loaded.
(Easily done in a number of other hosts.)

Much like Arturia and their V Collection. The only reason they add new synths is to encourage upgrades for the bundles. NI sells more bundles than individual synths.wagtunes wrote: Fri May 03, 2019 2:00 pmRegardless, as far as Super 8 specifically, we don't know how successful it will be. I mean do you really think every product that every big company comes out with is successful? I can tell you from having worked at big companies and having compiled their sales reports that big companies can have some really poor performing products.chk071 wrote: Fri May 03, 2019 1:57 pm They have about 400 employees. Wow. You'd think they have 6, the way their stuff is "appreciated" here.EvilDragon wrote: Fri May 03, 2019 4:37 pmCloser to 600 now.chk071 wrote: Fri May 03, 2019 1:57 pm They have about 400 employees. Show me another similar company who has that amount, and is doing so well.

I don’t think I’ve has this issue with kontour or many ensembles, I can usually map to device panels.pdxindy wrote: Fri May 03, 2019 4:04 pm
If I want to use Kontour, Bitwig's modulation system doesn't work with it. Almost nothing in Kontour is automatable.
Down in the Devices pane, the Bitwig shell only says Reaktor 6 so if the GUI is closed, I don't know which ensemble is loaded.
There are lots of little oddities that hinder a smooth workflow.

Took me exactly 20 seconds to fire up Bitwig, Reaktor Kontour and automate Kontour's Cutoff with a Bitwig modulator. If I want to use Kontour, Bitwig's modulation system doesn't work with it. Almost nothing in Kontour is automatable.

that's an odd way to look at things?chk071 wrote: Fri May 03, 2019 5:06 pm Wow. You'd think they have 6, the way their stuff is "appreciated" here.![]()
i love nis stuff (ok im still on 11 but not because i don't think its worth it, but because ive barely scratched 11s surface) but not because they have x number of employees
i can see why the smaller, one man or small group, get the different treatment.
its more that the naysayers, stay out of the threads more because if the individual is posting, the majority of us are adults who respect an individual person.
ni are a large faceless company, so its easier to complain.
its like youre probably more willing to spend a few extra pence on bread or milk at the corner store than at a chain supermarket, because you feel more youre supporting a person.
its just a tool at the end of the day, some will use it some wont.
no point worrying about it, not worth falling out with someone because they use a synth you don't like or don't use one you do
i think you should all kiss and make up, then make some music. collaborate even, with someone with an opposing view to you in this thread!
that's my challenge to all of you
not that i expect anyone to bother

Kontour is fully automatable in Logic Pro. Perhaps Bitwig is the bad boy here...pdxindy wrote: Fri May 03, 2019 4:04 pmIf I want to use Kontour, Bitwig's modulation system doesn't work with it. Almost nothing in Kontour is automatable.Echoes in the Attic wrote: Fri May 03, 2019 3:50 pmExactly. There are plenty of issues with a synth being Reaktor based beyond an extra click to load. I save my templates in my host presets so that doesn’t matter at all. But I like to use automap for example and Reaktor ensembles are all the same plugin so you can’t map them differently. And then all the other stuff you mentioned like non resizable GUI etc which is getting pretty rare these days, mpe etc, so it’s weird for such a huge company with so much money to be kind of behind the times.pdxindy wrote: Fri May 03, 2019 3:32 pm
It is more like 3 extra mouse clicks... but I don't care about the 3 extra clicks either...
It is the poor browser, poor preset handling, non resizable GUI, no MPE, inconsistent behaviors between ensembles such as many random parameters (Osc 1 PWM knob) not automatable in Rounds, or automation parameter names in Prism all starting with the same term so when you assign them to macros you get a whole bunch of macros with the same name... and so on. And of course there is a significant CPU hit, even without notes playing.
Down in the Devices pane, the Bitwig shell only says Reaktor 6 so if the GUI is closed, I don't know which ensemble is loaded.
