Spitfire "wish list" discounts don't combine with other sales, at least for the "May Highlights" sale on the harp. 40% off instead of 30% off.
I'll pass. Don't like the sound that much anyway, and from the reviews, panning has phasing issues unless you're using an orthodox orchestral stereo field.

Any thoughts on Spitfire Phobos and eDNA Earth? I love the concept of eDNA Earth but the sound examples just sound like strings run through effects.

Thanks, Fleer! That's extremely helpful! I already have Stephenson's Steam Band in Albion V and never use them.Fleer wrote: Mon May 06, 2019 2:57 pm Just a heads up, Eric, but there's quite some eDNA content in Albion One (called Brunel Loops and Stephenson's Steam Band) you may want to check out.

eDNA is just what they call the interface as far as I know. I personally like it, although that concept of morphing two or more sources has become somewhat ubiquitous in most cinematic libraries. It used to be one of their standout features.

Are any packs recommendable non-orchestra from spitfire? (I got symphobia already for that so far) something which is more unique?
Thx

Instead of the Spitfire Harp, I think I'll get the Audioplugin Deals Highland Harps---only question is whether to get the harps for $25 or the bundle for $100. The koto sounds really nice... when they claim to have "the most deeply sampled sitar, tambura, tabla and baya library ever released" do they mean "the most deeply sampled sitar, and most deeply sampled tabla" etc. or just "the most deeply sampled library containing all these instruments"?... Likewise for " deepest koto, bass koto and shamisen library ever released"....

I guess you gotta ask yourself how much weight such a claim really has..Ou_Tis wrote: Tue May 07, 2019 3:47 am Instead of the Spitfire Harp, I think I'll get the Audioplugin Deals Highland Harps---only question is whether to get the harps for $25 or the bundle for $100. If you youtube the libraries you'll likely know exactly what you're in for. For the price its a very good lot especially if you dont have any libraries like them.
Is there something you're worried you wont get in terms of 'deeply sampled' content?

Mostly just wondering if their "most deeply sampled" claim is rubbish or not. But the round robins, phrases, and articulations are a large part of their appeal, since I technically already have some sampled or physically modeled koto etc. (all except the Kazakh dombra). And it seems like "deep sampling" might be important for the microtunes....Insanelysane wrote: Tue May 07, 2019 5:11 amI guess you gotta ask yourself how much weight such a claim really has..Ou_Tis wrote: Tue May 07, 2019 3:47 am Instead of the Spitfire Harp, I think I'll get the Audioplugin Deals Highland Harps---only question is whether to get the harps for $25 or the bundle for $100. Phobos contains quite a number of great sounds but you can only find them by chance. Creating great sounds from scratch is quite impossible, at least for me. Worth it as a grabbag for random inspiration. I skipped eDNA.Uncle E wrote: Mon May 06, 2019 2:51 pm Any thoughts on Spitfire Phobos and eDNA Earth? Phobos had been highly anticipated. But it took them a very long time to release it and when it finally came out it left a lot of people disappointed. In contrast to all the other Spitfire stuff, Phobos is a VST instrument and it is my understanding that it was also quite buggy when it originally came out. I hear that this has been sorted out since then. I keep it on my shopping list because I figure that even the not-so-good Spitfire stuff is still quite exceptional, but I have not yet seen it at a price point that I would consider worthwhile getting it.
I am quite a fan of eDNA Earth, on the other hand, especially the Kinematik add-on. But I am a big sucker for anything that pulsates cinematically, so you probably need to take my opinion with a grain of salt there.

sucks donkey balls that it's $200 cheaper for someone who has never invested in Steinberg to buy it... shmoes like me who've already upgraded many times... bad luck
even the cheapest of sales sees upgrades $100-150 more expensive than this deal

No Kidding. They should provide a free upgrade for existing customers next point release. I've invested hundreds in Cubase. I get the marketing angle, but that is a massive discount, especially on the cross grade...from a company that considers their product a premium offering. Sux balls is right.sqigls wrote: Tue May 07, 2019 1:15 pm sucks donkey balls that it's $200 cheaper for someone who has never invested in Steinberg to buy it... shmoes like me who've already upgraded many times... bad luck

In all fairness, they also do upgrade sales once in a while.
