While I can't predict the future, odds are you will be able to resell it for the same price (or more) than what you paid for it if you don't like it.
Good point :tu:

True. However, I am running out of storage on my PC and I have to do a deep clean up if I were to install cubase. I'm not very likely to do it just for demo. :?
And the Cubase Pro demo requires the elicenser dongle....

That's okay for me tho. I got a dongle for Nexus already. Anyway, I am jumping in the sale (just waiting to see if JRR will carry the crossgrade sale as well). This video makes a good point regarding where the future of one particular daw will go.

That and the fact that Steinberg seems to have one of the more cohesive, future proof business strategies at the moment. They are currently positioning Halion as a more serious competitor to Kontakt, the release of Nuendo 10 was a direct assault on the dominance of Pro Tools Ultimate in the professional high end market and the new features introduced in Cubase 10 are more aimed at predicting what people will want in the future rather than just doing more of the same differently.

It also strikes me that Live, Reason and Cubase are distinctively different in their approach.

Not to mention that all of them are at version 10.

Anyone using both the desktop and iOS versions of Cubase ?

Post

I have Cubasis. Haven't really used it much. I usually end up with Garageband if I want to play around.

Post

Get it if you ain't got it already...and maybe even get it again if you do! (I am for my laptop.)

Same here. Which is why I think I’d better stick with Logic Pro X.

I'm PC for computer, so, for the most part, Cubase works well. Very slow loading if I change any plugins though. It's just complicated compared to other DAWs. But I understand it isn't as compatible with Macs. Don't want to start a PC/Apple war though. I'm just going by what I see on the various discussion boards.

Looked at it briefly. Remembered how much I hated it from Cubasis AV times onwards. Remembered how clumsy a company Steinberg is. Remembered my last encounter with the crappy Halion.

I thought about this if could do a soft license on my laptop, it might be worth it not to carry one more dongle. But my VSL SE licenses are on there also. And I primarily bought them for the laptop. :?

But if you took the Nuendo upgrade offer and have another DAW, this is a great way to get Cubase back.

The Steinberg site says "VAT-free", but the Best Service price is "excluding VAT". If I'm reading that correctly, Steinberg doesn't add tax to the cost (tax absorbed in cost), whereas Best Service does, so Best Service isn't going to be cheaper for most people?

Or is "VAT-free" just a mistranslation of the German equivalent of "excluding VAT"?

Actually it sounds like fat-free :D

From Europe I definitely have to pay VAT on Bestservice and Steinberg also displays the full price (which is with included VAT).

So if I bought cubase crossgrade, is it possible to sell it later if I for some reason don't need it anymore?

If resold, would it only be a cross-grade license? Or once you apply the cross-grade, does it become identical to a regular license for re-sale?

Seems like a cross-grade license would likely be harder to re-sell, particularly if this deal is well-advertised....

Why? The DAWs you have are like apples and oranges. For your type of music the workflow would be better in Live.
