sircuit wrote: Thu May 09, 2019 7:38 pm Happy to report that I downloaded & installed the 20 GB demo (well, skipped installing the samples) and now I have this weird issue: some plugins' windows are cropped and seems to be no way to display it entirely. Some of the plugins that have zoomable interfaces work (like ANA2) and some don't (like Falcon and Avenger). Is this known? In Ableton live and Vienna Ensemble Pro although they both have HiDPI modes I have no issues...

2560x1440 monitor, 150% Windows 10 scaling and HiDPI mode enabled in Cubase (otherwise the interface looks really fuzzy).
This might help:

Cheers for that. Although Steinberg doesn't mention in that document, I discovered that all plugins that DON'T use OpenGL (or can be disabled) run perfectly fine scaled with the software renderer active.
The only one that can't work without OpenGL and does't have HiDPI is Avenger. Those guys are the only ones who use 4K monitors at 100% scaling and absolutely don't feel the need to implement HiDPI to their software.

Cubase is well known to have very poor performance on Mac. If you don’t believe me then buy it and cry later when you run back to dp or logicpro

Yeah, never find out how something works or how well, just refuse out of a paranoid sort of ideology. You're clearly the critical ones and we're cult members. slow

Izak Synthiemental wrote: Wed May 08, 2019 6:57 pm That's a great way of celebrating 30 years of Cubase which is one of my favorite audio softwares ever. I just wished they would also include the upgrades in the sale to include the users who are still running an older version of Cubase in the celebration. That would make even a bigger party  :hyper: :clown:
Latest news, for all those interested, the current Sales promotion will include Updates and Upgrades by the weekend..! Yay..!
See here.. https://www.steinberg.net/forums/viewto ... 34#p856545

Spread the word... :)
Speaking of "celebration"... Does anyone know if this "party" applies to very old versions too? I have Cubase VST 5.1 somewhere (the one with the big blue obsolete "parallel port" dongle, I bought it back in 2001) and Cubase SE 1.07 (year 2005 or so).

Yes, it applies to old versions too under the upgrade options. But not sure the list goes back that far. Easy enough for you to check though.

And they still do that "grace" period thing for now. Hoping they don't decided to "change without notice" on that. Happy enough with the version I currently have, but for this price, buying it and waiting for the next version to hit makes it a no-brainier for me.

Post

I wonder what proof they need for the cgrade, when Logic X doesn't have a serial.

I think it's super loosey goosey. Kinda like the edumacation license :hihi:

Is there anyway to use Cubase without the dongle?

I'ma pass. I'm just too tight financially and would rather just go back to S1 sub if I needed this type of daw. Great chance for those who want it!

I think now the only thing to do is sit back and see what the other vendors are going to strike back with. You have til early June to decide if you want to buy into the Cubase and dongle ecosystem.

What other product uses e-licenser? I have never seen anything except for Cubase, everything else uses ilok. If they gave us a choice of e-licenser or ilok that would at least be palatable as many folks already use ilok.

Post

VSL uses e-licenser
