Any DAW today is good for electronic music... they are all so capable.

It basically comes down to preferences and workflow. Cubase is an amazingly capable DAW all around. I think Ableton has a more fun and straightforward workflow. Different people click with different software. My experience with gear (hardware and software) is that it is inevitable to buy some stuff that one ends up not liking and one moves on. It is part of the whole learning process.

No!!! Stop it!!!! Go for a walk!!!!

Resistance is futile. :D

I updated to 10 Pro and Elements, even though I wasn't ready to do it just right now.
I use Pro on a desktop and keep Elements on a laptop because I'd rather not switch the dongle around all the time.

I used to have many different DAW's (still have them somewhere), but Cubase is the one I like and use the most.

Question before I give up completely, anyone using Roli with Cubase? I forgot Cubase is one of the few hosts that has the extended capability.

I think there is too much GAS on this thread. You have until June B4 deal is over! Don't jump too soon! 'Cause you never know who is going to unload a can of whoop ass on Steinberg for this move.

Only if you like Bitwig. You are not allowed to detest both Ableton and Bitwig, as this marks you out as a DAW curmudgeon.

That is an interesting idea. I am assuming you can open up element projects in pro but not the other way around? Or can you open up pro projects as long as you do not use pro features?

Ableton is faster, no doubt about it. I don't have experience with Cubase, I just installed the one month demo, but is similar to Logic in many aspects. So far I see nothing that would made me switch from Live to Cubase for electronic dance music. However, for composers and connections to Vienna Ensemble Pro and multi-monitor use etc Cubase takes the lead.

I tried out the Elements 30 days trial and liked it. I wonder if the 50% off sale will be only if you purchase through their website. I have a few 50 dollar gift cards from various online stores I need to use.

I see that quite a bit and try as I might, (at least 3 different lite versions 7, 9 and 10) I just don't get it. I literally can't figure out the simplest things. To me it makes as much sense to me as Reason. Still, I have a v10 lite I'll be giving another go. Maybe one day it will click.

I just feel like I'd be missing out if I got cubase over ableton. Ableton seems to have a larger userbase and appears to have a lot more online support and video tutorials on youtube than cubase. I want to get both, but for now I'm thinking about just choosing one so I don't spend a lot of money right now.

Is there a large community of cubase users that make electronic music?

Anyone care to explain how the cross grade from Live or Logic (or insert name of your DAW here) works? What does Steinberg want in order to grant you the discounted license? I use Live and Logic but, for $166 bucks and a dongle I’ll try Cubase
