Hi. In another topic we talked about the available fx and instruments inside MSF and I need some clarification. From what I understood: MSF contains MPowerSynth, MDrummer and all Melda FX without the need for their licenses. If I'd buy MSF now for 50$ I would have them all inside and since MSF will be able to load samples one day (or even as FX version), I use all the FX in daily production. Is that true and does that make the TotalBundle obsolete? Getting all plugins for a couple bucks would be a big bargain.

MSF is a generator after all - it is not an effect you could load into an effect slot of your DAW ... at least in FL Studio I have no input routing, if I load it as an effect into the mixer. So I would not say that it make the MTotalBundle obsolete, since you would not be able to route (e.g. live) audio directly and easily through MSF.

Also MSF lacks latency report/compensation.

I see, but it will be possible to load samples. And since I consider the melda FX being more in the creative and sounddesign corner (thus wouldn't need them that often), I could just bounce a track that needs some and load it into MSF, right? Also there was this post made, which got confirmation in the thread:

Okay but this is rather a major design flaw which will have to be solved anyways during the beta phase.

Well I think yes: if a sampler will be introduced for MSF, you could just load your stuff there and use the effects inside MSF, I guess. I would not be happy working like this, hehe. But if it works for you, why not. ;)

This just sounds odd, since there is already MXXX, which basically is MSF ... or better: MSF is just MXXX but as an instrument. The only question is, if the additional synthesis modules and physical modelling filters will be added to MXXX some day .... I guess it could become difficult, because they are controlled by note and you had to set up MXXX to receive MIDI first (what you already can do, but in some DAWs it might be a bit difficult and clumsy to do ... at least in FL Studio). I don't know in the end. The quote you posted just let me think of MXXX, hehe.

Msf as an fx would make mxxx useless so it'd be just stupid.. Unless the fx section was shut down/removed from the fx version.

Post

Sure but it also already made MPS useless, or? It even can load the MPS presets if I saw that right :D

Post

IMO mps is faster to use than mps modules ;)

MPS is like having a synth with less options than MSF for a quick workflow. MSF will also have a quick workflow when all the devices are ready, though ... but a different workflow with more specific devices for specific sounds.

I am not sure, if MPS will become obsolete after the full release of MSF ... I might still use MPS anyway for very fast and quick preset design. (=

Well, yes, you have almost everything in MSF, but processing files etc. (hence hacking it) would be rather cumbersome (mildly put :) ).

Also as explained in another thread, latency can NOT be reported in an instruments. So compensation won't be possible.
Vojtech
MeldaProduction MSoundFactory MDrummer MCompleteBundle The best plugins in the world :D

Sorry, I still do not get it:

Does MSF contain all the modular modules, no matter of other licenses existing? And what about the fx section? Thanks.

Post

As it seems yes.

Yes but if you only need once in a time it is a better investment and way than buying the all plugins

Ohh but how should this synth then be used in a project? I's running out of sync

Well, it seems that with MSF, these early 2020 times, designing a Device (using certain Fx) needs to take care of latency. It is a deep Factory!! after all :o

As a MFS user you are not supposed to bring to every part of your performances the whole FX Factory complex. You will use its devices. Except that at MFS' case, you may get away being creative in EDIT mode and doing such with 90% of its Factoring functions, which already are massive, immense universes.

For those (being said that mostly are spectral large buffered) cases of precise sounds that you plan to use. Why not prepare ahead for such? you may apply a large fixed latency number. Or -if you so dearly want those extreme uses- you could pre-cook the thing, render, record and correct or even soon you will be able to sample its base and then use multiparameters or some of the increasing number of modules available, that is if you still need to apply hands-on improvisational skills with such particular sounds.

Can't find that other thread ... sorry. But question: cannot be reported in an instrument, or cannot be reported in this instrument (MSF)?

According to a couple of folks (at least one of whom consistently seems to have considerable expertise) upstairs in the DSP forum, they claim that the use of a plug-in as an instrument vs as an effect is no different in this particular regard.

Not advocating that latency needs to be reported in MSF ... just curious.

VPS Avenger e.g. reports its latency to the host and it can do this in several ways (none, dynamic, fixed). The problem is specific to MSF.
