I did on the very first track "Still Out Of Sync" where I used the Guitar Rig 5 Andy In A Bottle patch.donkey tugger wrote: Wed May 08, 2019 6:15 pmHehe, well I suggest you go back and lather shitloads of chorus on the guitar then!wagtunes wrote: Wed May 08, 2019 6:12 pmDing, ding, ding.

Probably because it's not one of your best emulations wags. I think that's a pretty tall order TBH. I'm not really a fan of Sting's solo work, but, The Police had one of those synergies that's hard to deny and challenging to imitate.

And for what it's worth, "Still Out Of Sync" came in 3rd in last month's Music Cafe song contest. That's pretty damn good for me.ghettosynth wrote: Wed May 08, 2019 6:18 pm Probably because it's not one of your best emulations wags. I think that's a pretty tall order TBH. I haven't done Roxanne yet. I'm getting there, I'm getting there.
I'm also studying up on Stewart Copeland's drum style for future tracks. Talk about something difficult to do on virtual drums without an electronic drum pads setup.

Call it "lox man" and sing all about the pleasures of lox. Oh, and yes, please sing it, in the right register too.

Wanted to make one more observation. You say not one of my better emulations?ghettosynth wrote: Wed May 08, 2019 6:18 pm Probably because it's not one of your best emulations wags. Based on the comments of my previous emulations, when have I ever done a good one? Most of the comments about my emulations, or for that matter my music in general, border on "Please for God's sake do something else with your life."
I mean I'm not exactly showered with praise around this place. So saying something is poor in relation to that is not all that meaningful to be perfectly honest.
In fact, it's just more of the same of what I've been getting since posting stuff in this forum.
Nothing has changed.

I think several of your previous efforts have been better. Sorry if I can't remember names but there was definitely one recently that I commented on where you had decided to sing.wagtunes wrote: Thu May 09, 2019 3:12 pmWanted to make one more observation. This is on of those cases where you should take my words at face value, don't project here man, I'm not trying to be mean, just observing that The Police is a tough act to ape well so that you shouldn't be surprised that people didn't get it.

Oh believe me, I understand. Nobody knows better than me how tough this group is to do. I have made a study of them religiously and I still don't get all the subtleties of Stewart Copeland's drumming, something I am going to focus on extensively throughout the rest of this CD. In fact, I've even gone back to listening to analysis of all their songs and how they were put together. I don't expect to finish this project until the end of summer at earliest. And I still might fall on my ass and fail. But it won't be from lack of trying.ghettosynth wrote: Thu May 09, 2019 3:37 pmI think several of your previous efforts have been better. 5th track from my upcoming tribute CD to The Police "Still Out Of Sync"
Ghosts In The Attic
Got a feeling there's ghosts in the attic
Rattling round causing all sorts of havoc
I don't dare take a look at what they're doing
I'll stay here In my chair while they're stewing
Boogie man gotta say yeah he scares me
Devil man comes around and he dares me
Walking death making tracks for the cellar
And my girl I don't dare try to tell her
Gotta get me a dog to fetch on 'em
I know that there's no way I can con 'em
Spooky nights guess they're all gonna taunt me
And those ghosts living here gonna haunt me
Ghosts in the attic
Ghosts in the attic
Ghosts in the attic
Ghosts in the attic
Every night go to bed and I see 'em
All I know is I don't want to be 'em
But they got hold of me and I'm crying
Save from death though I'm not scared of dying
Losing fast it's a war I can't win no
Wish that I could just jump out a window
All these ghosts with my head they're a messing
How this ends is a chore for the guessing
Repeat Chorus
Fade Out

Ok Wags you know me...easy going, hate to be critical, positive energy etc.
I have enjoyed this project. 1) Glad to hear you singing your stuff, 2) 80's indie rock (with a clear distinction that your heart is still in the 60's...like many 80's artists) that works well, 3) not very "The Police" but I get it as a tribute, and 4) Keep it up. I have no idea how you put out so much music.
The lyrics are good, albeit a bit naive, but there is nothing wrong with that. It makes me want to do a vocal album again. I have been buried in my orchestral stuff for the last few years and this is a good reminder that "songs" are good to do as well.
Some of the songs sound distorted in places. Girl Under Umbrella really distorts bad in places. That is my criticism for your project. Double check the mastering...I think that is where it is happening. Maybe you are pushing a bit hot...because it feels like digital distortion in places.
