Opened the Pads -> Dark -> Cinematic patch and added a MSaturatorMB. When the edit mode of MSaturatorMB is summoned, it does not take the full available space, and it seems that there are no handles to drag and make the plugin take all the space:

By the way, is there a way to modulate the amount of one harmonic in MSaturatorMB (not enabled in the above screen shot) by the aftertouch of a MIDI keyboard ?

Post

Yeah, this seems like one of the extreme examples - the engine doesn't resize it, because it is configured not to resize, since there's nothing to resize, while the meters can use that. In normal plugins this means thge plugin gets smaller, which is good. I wouldn't really spend dev time on this, since it doesn't bring anything.

No, for that you need per-voice stuff, hence Generator tab. Always remember, FX tab is processing already mixed voices!

All right. Need to familiarize with MSF. So far, short time, I seem to like way much more MSF than MPS, from the sounds it made (more on that in another topic).

In this case the bands are showing up all squeezed vertically in their limited space. Is that the most useful way to work with bands ?

It works OK for some other MB plug-ins (MPhaserMB, MDynamicsMB):

Edit: I've just seen the same issue in the MLimiterX plug-in.

Yes, because MPhaseMB etc. have the left part resizable, since tehre's the oscillator editor.
Basically in all plugins I had to choose if the left part is worth resizing or not, if not, then the right part can get the available space instead.

In the case shown, working with the multiband interface in 'vertical tower' mode is not the best.

Post

It's assumed you won't really try to do that since there's enough space. Anyways think of how many possibilities of the layouts there already are... it's already impossible :D

I'm not sure about what you mean. The use case is simple. MDistortionMB is having the multibands squeezed vertically, and it seems to be the same with other plugins as Dark Star has shown. So if one wants to use but only a MDistortionMB band plugin, there's no other option than to work with that kind of vertically squeezed multibands ? When there's ample space right beside it to expand ?

Post

I don't follow, doesn't seem to be related to the topic, or I just don't get it...

Refer to the first screen shot of the thread. The plugin is confined to the left of the available space, which results in having the plugin's multibands squeezed up vertically.

So if one uses only a MDistortionMB and does not want anything else to be added to the sound, then one has to work with those squeezed up multibands, isn't it ?

Or is there a way to expand the plugin to fill all available space ?

Aaaha, so you mean horizontally squeezed stuff? Yes, that's correct I'm afraid. There's a solid point about crossover editor having resizable... hmmm... not sure... will test.

OK, horizontally squeezed. Makes sense. I rather thought of vertically squeezed because they looked more like going up than spreading, but that's actually horizontal squeezing. And so, it's not so nice to work with horizontally squeezed mutlibands.

A dedicated popped out "View window" would be helpful? If you highlight a module it automatically populates the resized viewing window... Which you can have floating or close it when you don't need it. Would be a good addition to the individual pop-windows.
