Still trying out the v1.1.0 x64 demo, because I'm very tempted to buy the Elka Panther, but I'm not fully sold yet as I also have the Combo F, Combo V and Dash Signature's ComboSister.

Now what I can't seem to figure out if the Elka Panther has a sustain function like the Ace Tone Top-7 I once had.


The first tones played in this video demonstrate the sustain I'm talking about. The Release in Key Contacts doesn't do the same thing.

I have a minor feature suggestion as well. Would it be possible to let the user customize the Settings view colours?

How about the colours of the tabs (black/grey/red/yellow/white/light blue) for the background and the same colours for the letters/knobs/faders/buttons?

Yes, it would be possible but it would make the plug-in size very big to our standards. So if you load 2 Panthers like in this demo in your DAW you could give them different colors but your memory use grows fast with this option too. It will still be smaller than many others

Changing the Setting colors would not take that much memory. It is already on the wishlist.

Now what I can't seem to figure out if the Elka Panther has a sustain function like the Ace Tone Top-7 I once had.

The plug-in follows the original in this regard, so it does have decay/percussion, but it doesn't have release/sustain.

The Release in Key Contacts doesn't do the same thing.

The Release knob controls the delay between the individual key contacts. If you set it to 0, then all 4 contacts will stop at once. If you set it to 10, then there will be a subtle delay between them. The exact effect varies form key to key, and Note Off velocity also controls the delay, so it will be more noticable if you release the key very slowly (assuming your MIDI controller supports Note Off velocity).

We are now working on an other instrument plugin and hope to create the LEM Echo Music as an effect plugin after that.

Or a combo organ outside the family? A Philicorda perhaps? Would make sense for you guys to release such a Dutch classic. The few I've seen so far are sample based, no physical modelling. That's what sets you apart from the rest.

Growing up in the Seventies in a Dutch household would also mean being around other Dutch classic organ brands Eminent and Solina. My father had a Solina B313 which I still have some samples of.

Then again why stick to making organs..? But what..?

I think I've figured it out, it's a rhythm box! Actually that would be pretty cool.

Although I wonder if it would sound significantly different from a Leslie on which most if not all rotary speaker emulation plugins are based on, it would be nice to have an Elkatone VST as well.

We own an Elkatone 350, and a Yamaha RA-200 so you never know what will happen

and don't forget RA-200 is not just for YC transistor organs. sounds brilliant on guitars too, but you need to have a tube preamp in front of it. stock factory solid state amp sounds not so great.

Agree 100%. My lead guitarist had one and it sounded great. You're also quite right about the need for a tube pre. It sounds rather thin and anemic on guitar otherwise. I imagine a combo organ could also benefit from a tube pre up front.
