That's expected, for some module presets, the sound needs to be reset when it's being loaded. Thus it shortly stops, or clicks.Stefken wrote: Thu May 23, 2019 6:54 pm Issue:
When changing a filter preset or osc preset (clicking on the down arrow left to the title and picking a preset in the dropdown) I often had the sound stopping.
It was inconsistent though. In some case just a small pause, click or pop.
In most other cases like e.g. when using the patch presets "Acidity" and "Aethersphere" (first presets in subdir 'Local'), the sound/sequence completely stopped until you play another note.
Hive 2.0 sanity check

I will do so, thnx!tasmaniandevil wrote: Fri May 24, 2019 10:56 amAs far as I understand it, this whole process is completely done by Bitwig, we are not doing anything there. So it might be good to ask Bitwig about that problem.joris.roling wrote: Thu May 23, 2019 6:50 pm I use Bitwig and its browser (love that it 'understands' U-He preset format), but with Hive 2.0 there is a noticable hickup (delay + hicking sound) after selecting (but not yet OK-ing) a new preset for Hive 2.0. After about for 5 seconds (!) this hicking stops, and the preset is actually selected. No crash, not workable either.
Get well soon! And I appreciate U-He staff doing support even when on sick leave.

Definitely substantial CPU increase with 2.0...Live's CPU load meter jumps from 8% (idle, Hive not instantiated) to 25-35% on some patches. Great synth, but that's more than even Serum eats up nowadays, so i'm sort of wondering where this is going to fit.
Regardless, i think the update really puts Hive into its own space. Great work. i'll also echo Urs' GUI solutions...i changed my Macbook color profile to the sRGB one instead of the default Color LCD a while ago and every single plugin and program works waaaaaay better. Thanks, Apple.

I love that new version of Hive, and the Scope is both beautiful and useful to see what happens with all these new modulators. Very good job guys !

Yes, some patches use considerably more CPU - but this should have happened during that transition form Hive 1.1 to Hive 1.2. Many of the new 2.0 presets use the same stuff (wavetables...).voidhead23 wrote: Fri May 24, 2019 11:14 amLive's CPU load meter jumps from 8% (idle, Hive not instantiated) to 25-35% on some patches.
Any preset *not* using heavy wavetable interpolation should be just like it was when Hive came out.
Tip: Always check if wavetable interpolation "crossfade" is good enough. It hardly ever has to be "spectral"
When you compare 16x oscillator unison sweeping a wavetable with those other synths you'll still notice how fast Hive really is. Particularly because they only do "crossfade" at best.

Also, thank you all for your positive vibes!
I think everyone at u-he headquarters has been very happy with this update, hence we couldn't wait to get this out

Cool, will keep a look out for that. Didn't notice that much of a spike with 1.2, nor even going for Spectral mode. It's just a few patches, like most synths. Also, i'm not really sure how much high-quality software is designed for the underspec'd (ie, Apple) laptop crowd anyway. Was mainly just wanting to make sure it was normal.

Are you using VST3? If so, try switching back to VST2. I notice this has been a problem ever since Bitwig rolled out VST3 support for u-he presets. Not nearly as smooth as using VST2 for browing u-he presets.joris.roling wrote: Thu May 23, 2019 6:50 pm Hi Urs (and other U-Hers),
Love Hive 2.0, but found an issue.
I use Bitwig and its browser (love that it 'understands' U-He preset format), but with Hive 2.0 there is a noticable hickup (delay + hicking sound) after selecting (but not yet OK-ing) a new preset for Hive 2.0. After about for 5 seconds (!) this hicking stops, and the preset is actually selected. No crash, not workable either.
This was working flawless in Hive 1.2 (or any other VST actually)
Any clue?
Cheers,
Joris
Newer Bitwig versions will also default to VST3 version (or whatever you have specified as your preferred format), so this could explain why it was happening with only the new version of Hive.

Yes, I figured that much, that's why I mentioned the pause/pops.tasmaniandevil wrote: Fri May 24, 2019 10:58 amThat's expected, for some module presets, the sound needs to be reset when it's being loaded. Thus it shortly stops, or clicks.Stefken wrote: Thu May 23, 2019 6:54 pm Issue:

But in most cases, the sound/sequence (most presets were arps/seqs) is stopped indefinitely, until you play a new note. I guess you could retrigger the sound/sequence once everything is loaded?
Definitely a big fan of how you can save presets per module by the way.
This is something that I miss in most synths.

Not an issue, but I thought I better report: payed via PayPal and for some reason my name in cyrillic form was used for registration. And it's like the first time ever this happened.
