I have a question regarding the upgrade process.
When running the upgrade an replacing hive 1.0 does my Daw recognize the new version 2.0 also as Hive so that all instances in my project get replaced by version 2.0. or do i have to save all presets in Hive 1.0, upgrade to Hive 2.0 and reload the previously saved presets?
Or should I backup the presets and make a fresh installation.
Im using Bitwig studio as DAW.
Thank you

Mac here. Ableton Live 10 as host.Teksonik wrote: Fri May 24, 2019 2:40 pmI'm running at 120% on this Win 10 system which is so old it runs on coal and don't seem to have any issues. I'm going to wait until next week to do the upgrade and then I can test on my studio computer which is a order of magnitude more powerful.Yorrrrrr wrote: Fri May 24, 2019 2:00 pm Switching GUI sizes to something other than 100% makes the GUI painfully slow. Are you running your Mac or PC (I think you have both right ?)
Anyway checking the RC on this system and it sounds absolutely glorious. Great work !![]()
And yes. It is glorious. Between this and DUNE 3 I'll be in synth heaven.

It replaces the existing installation of Hive and doesn't affect the presets. All you should need to do is install it, and all the projects you use Hive in will be good to go!hihu wrote: Fri May 24, 2019 2:44 pm I have a question regarding the upgrade process.

Keep use of the scope and WT display for the moments when you really need them.Yorrrrrr wrote: Fri May 24, 2019 2:00 pm Switching GUI sizes to something other than 100% makes the GUI painfully slow. Anyone can reproduce this?
It's been discussed a lot, high resolution displays and vector graphics are the new frontiers of CPU consumption.
Also, on Mojave there are a lot of other factors which may have a huge impact on UI performance (which connector you use, the colour profile...)

This combination has caused a lot of grief lately. Definitely check the colour profile thing. There's also some possible issue with a flag in one of Ableton's plist files, maybe search our forum for "sluggish Live".
All I can say is, we hope to rewrite our whole UI thing to go Metal at some point, since OpenGL is pointless now, and so are Apple's own graphics libraries (Quartz...). Unfortunately this could take months, so we're a bit like *sigh*

Your old projects should be fine. Hive 2 is fully backwards compatible.hihu wrote: Fri May 24, 2019 2:44 pm I have a question regarding the upgrade process.

Also, good news, we have a Go for the NKS Previews. I've added the link to the first post, and I'll post it here for your convenience:

Yes, just checked the color profile thing, and switching to the sRGB one fixed the issue here. Strange. But well...hopefully you guys can make the transition to Metal soon enough.Urs wrote: Fri May 24, 2019 3:22 pmThis combination has caused a lot of grief lately. The Hive 2 manual says no, so you may want to update that then!

Oh ok I don't have a Mac or Ableton so can't perform a comparable test. GUI seems to be responding well here on Win 10.Yorrrrrr wrote: Fri May 24, 2019 2:48 pm

I agree that Hive 2 and Dune 3 are going to make perfect companions. They each have their own character and those characters mesh so well at least here in my projects.
They are my co-favorite synths.

I guess it's a Zen Koan, like the famous one: The sound of one hand clapping.
Kōan
A kōan is a story, dialogue, question, or statement, which is used in Zen practice to provoke the "great doubt" and test a student's progress in Zen practice.
The sound of one hand clapping is supposed to be a question with no answer. It is a clasic Zen koan given to students to aid in enlightenment by leading the mind into a cul-de-sac with no way out but enlightenment.

Positive- It’ll smoothly replace Hive1. Sweet.
Negative- It’ll replace Hive1. Not sweet! I dont like change! Ive grown fond of Hive’s alien spaceship vibe.

As we expect some Hive 1 nostalgia we're contemplating the addition of the original Hive 1 skins as an option. Granted, the new features would be inaccessible. But who needs them while you're satisfying desires brought on by memories which did not have these?Butwug wrote: Fri May 24, 2019 5:02 pmNegative- It’ll replace Hive1. Not sweet! I dont like change!
